If God Will Send His Angels

I failed surgery in my medical finals in Dublin, everyone else I knew passed and every 5 minutes people called to celebrate. I felt at my lowest. I played this song on constant repeat. I was thinking of throwing myself into the Liffey. My sister called and said "Pack your things, I am taking you home". I played this song and sat there in a daze till she got there. This song got me through my worst day. I repeated my surgery and qualified 6 months after everyone else, it all seemed so important at the time. Passing was Everythng, that day I realised it wasn't, that God, Family and Love are all so much more.

I Totally agree with the previous bloggers. In Pop's piece de resistance If God Will Send His Angels-surely one of U2's best and most misunderstood Artworks, Bono is simply asking a question to us all-"Where is the hope, faith and love in the world?"-My man Bono is crying out that question and he rages "Jesus never let me down/Jesus used to show me the score/Then they put Jesus in showbiz/Now it's hard to get in the door!"-Bono is clearly angry and enraged in this psalm blues electronica as Edge, Adam and Larry lay down a chillout techno melody. Many U2 Fans have never given Pop a fair chance. If God Will Send His Angels is U2's most underrated song. I for one sing its praises. Bono is a brilliant writer. We need faith, hope and love in our lives and U2 ARE a solution for this mixed-up world we're living in today! U2 ROCK HARD!

Also as noted above its not 'scat singing' at the end, he sings pretty much what the poster above says.

Best song on 'Pop'. It actually poses the question the album is asking:

"where is the hope, and where is the faith, and the love?"

Christmas, I think, is used as a metaphor because of its duality: the birth of Christ verses mass-consumerism. I love the line, "does love light up your Christmas tree?"

For me it's about that side of Religion (country songs) where people say if God wanted to do something he'd do it himself, or send an angel. Bono is clearly telling us we need to get of our backsides - be the light and the love or as Jesus said a City on a hill should shine - which Bono quotes in Yahweh on the new album
