Take Tomorrow (One Day At A Time) Lyrics

You got lost for a while
You've been trying to find a smile
You got stood up then you fell down
And when you needed, there was no one around
You loved the previews, and hate the movie
You scream at the screen, "something move me"
Before you start to fade away

Give me all your fears, throw it away
Think about the good things, no matter what they say
We'll take tomorrow baby
One day at a time

You just stare in space
You found love but it got erased
You're on the road with all the stoplights
And you're too afraid to turn wrong from right
You ate your soul and it made you fat
Starve yourself from everything else that
Makes you completely full

Give me all your fear, throw it away
Think about the good things, no matter what they say
We'll take tomorrow, yeah
One day at a time

So you run, so you hide
And you watch as they die
They all fell, you could fall, too
Or you can sew your wings and try to fly right through

Give me all your fears, throw it all away
Think about the good things, no matter what they say
We'll take tomorrow baby
One day at a time

When I first heard this song I read that he'd written it in response to/after the 9-11 incidents, but I'm not sure. Did anybody else hear that?

I know for a fact that Butch wrote the song for a friend that he lost to cancer, he had mentioned it at a few shows before he played the song. I have never heard about it being for 9/11, although I do remember listening to demos of it before the events of 9/11 occurred. Whatever inspired him to write it really brought some of the best lyrics I have ever heard so it could really be about anything and I'd still love it and him.

To BlueAndStarry, i saw him live at his CD release party july 9th and he did some acoustic stuff, he did say that he wrote a song about 9/11, and i cant remember but he either said it was that one or one that wasnt on the album...either way though he did write a song about it.

i love this song. at first glance this part seemed a little strange- "You ate your soul and it made you fat Starve yourself from everything else that Makes you completely full" but after some thinking, i think he's talking about how eating your soul (making yourself vulnerable) resulted in bad consequences (you feel greater hurt) and so now you refrain from making yourself vulnerable to hurt, thus "starving yourself." it's a beautiful song.

I adore this song. The first time I heard it was on that movie "The Hot Chick." Lol. The chorus was playing during a part when Jessica and her boyfriend Billy were together, I believe. The words are very deep.. I think Butch Walker is a lyrical genius. I didn't know he wrote this about 9-11, or about a friend dying of cancer, but I can see where it would make sense for both.

This is one of my favorite songs that Butch does.

This part is so close to my heart. I really DO always love the preview and hate the movie!! haha. But I think that it has deeper meaning than that. It's like you think you are going to like what you have coming up in your life, and you get there and you just can't stand being there. And then you get so numb to feeling that you wish ANYTHING would move you and make you feel SOMETHING, even if it's bad. At least you would still know you were alive.

I actually talked to Butch about this, because this song means alot to me, and it's about his friend that died of cancer. He wrote it and played it for her before she died. My dad died of cancer too, so we had a good little convo about it when he played in atlanta at criminal records. amazing song
