The Waitress Lyrics

So I want to kill this waitress
she's worked her a year longer than I
If I did it fast you know that's an act of kindness

But I believe in peace
I believe in peace, Bitch
I believe in peace

I want to kill this waitress
I can't believe this violence in mind
and is her power all in her club sandwich

I want to kill this killing wish
they're too many stars and not enough sky
Boys all think she's living kindness
ask a fellow waitress
ask a fellow waitress

"The Waitress is how I can't control my violence, and in this one situation, we're both equals, we're both waitresses in this song. I don't go into the details of why. Why isn't the issue. The issue is that I thought I was a peacemaker, and this violence has totally taken control of every belief system that I have. It's a very scary thing, especially after you talk about anti-violence." [Tori Amos, The Baltimore Sun, '94]

"Condiments are my favorite thing sometimes when I was lonely I'd line up all the condiments and pound them on the table and let them applaud me adding confidence to my dishes before they got cooked." [Tori Amos, Under The Pink Songbook]

The line 'too many stars and not enough sky', I always thought meant that there were too many girls competing for the spotlight and not enough room for them all to shine.

I think she's angry at being angry. It pisses her off to be annoyed with the central character. I want to kill this killing wish... shows us that she admires this person but strugless to reconcile that herself.

Does it get any better than that? Yes, it get's better when it's live.

I think it's about a girl admiring another girl but being to proud to admit it to herself. I can totally understand that. It's like loving a girl, being attracted by her whole way to behave and espacially by her selfesteem and the huge amount of sky this one star is claiming for itself. But exactly this is, what also frightens her: the waitress taking her place, being more interesting, more amazing than herself. This is an aspect of love that only appears, if you feel attracted to a person of the same gender - when suddenly this admirability also becomes the subject of jealousy. There ist so much hatred for this person, but at the end, always very silent but present the answer to le thestion"if I love the waitress"

This is a great song to rock out to when your day has been bad. I especially love the sort of whipping sound in the background...extra cool..

just complaining about a woman with whom she works who is a total bitch to all the other girls, has a total power trip, but then flirts with all the male customers. tori cant believe how angry this woman is making her for she's normally pretty peaceful... i really love the line "too many stars and not enough sky," not totally sure what it means maybe an allusion to a garish, over-glittery fakeness such as the bitch-waitress and women-like-her tend to have.

i must admit that i love this song. we all have these thoughts inside...thoughts that we hide from others. sometimes those thoughts are violent...but its how we deal with stressful situations. we can be so calm and reseved on the outside...but internally were screaming and thinking of hurting those that annoy us. we all have these feelings....its a very human response.

BEST BAD MOOD SONG EVER. Especially for those who feel hatred towards somebody but know that it's harmful to hate.
