Almost With You Lyrics
See the chains which bind the men
Can you taste their lonely arrogance
It's always too late
And your face is so cold
They struggled for this opulence
See the suns which blind the men
Burnt away so long before our time
Now their warmth is forgotten and gone
Pretty maids not far behind
Who you trying to get in touch with
I'm almost with you
I can sense it wait for me
I'm almost with you
Is this the taste of victory
I'm almost with you
See the dust which fills your sleep
Does it always feel this chill near the end
I never dreamed we'd meet here once more
This life reserved for a friend
Can you taste their lonely arrogance
It's always too late
And your face is so cold
They struggled for this opulence
See the suns which blind the men
Burnt away so long before our time
Now their warmth is forgotten and gone
Pretty maids not far behind
I'm almost with you
I can sense it wait for me
I'm almost with you
Is this the taste of victory
I'm almost with you
See the dust which fills your sleep
Does it always feel this chill near the end
I never dreamed we'd meet here once more
This life reserved for a friend

Yeah I love this, nice and mellow poppy alt rock song.
The lyrics are very....Abstract. It's really hard to tell what the meaning is behind this one.
Great song from an under-appreciated band! Love the line... "Is this the taste of victory?"
To me this is about about a person near the end of their existence first reflecting on their time in the world, but then shifting to their feelings for another beloved being that has died before them. One that they cherished and loved and have been missing terribly. They feel an almost ghostly presence reaching out, beckoning (welcoming?) "Who you trying to get in touch with?" They ponder...I'm almost with you...I can sense you're waiting for me. "Is this the taste of victory?" Is the hopeful notion held by believers in the afterlife, i.e I'll see you soon when my time is done here.
My mother has been alone for 25 years now since my Dad passed on. This song reminds me of her.
@Constitution this is an awesomme interpretation and frankly one i had never a clue until i saw this. This song fits that narrative perfectly. P.S. It\'s always heartbreaking To to think Or hear of a parent that has either past or is alone, So to you and your mother, wherever you may be out there, Tonight my heart To you--in sincerity and compassion, g brian scott

This song is about a reunion after a period of separation with a new perspective. At least that\'s what I think about when I listen.

It made me think why this band didn'thad that much award...they're really great

the last lines always do me in. The Church are amazing, none of my friends see anything in them, i couldn't live without this music.
I loved the melodic chime, and the latin guitar break, didn't know about the dry gravel voice, but it had a pulse- just. My friends called them pretendersre but I was hooked. The lyrics are a waste of time- mostly - which only makes the parts which shine through really stand out. In this song, I think it's "Is this a taste of victory" , the only part of. the song where the vocal melody rises from the gutter
..which means I am wasting my time! So be it, as I said, I was hooked.
