Anyone in 2025? Happy 25th anniversary!!

To me this is the song about finding trustable friends and getting out from the old place where forces them to be half dead. like… I run away from my country in my 20s to find better place to meet people who has the same sense of value. This song was exactly about myself. Being different from others puts you under the spotlight. People see you and treat you differently, so you don’t feel that you belong to anywhere which makes you feel lonely. In that kind of community you have to choose if you change your self (kill your heart and live like half dead) to stay there, or just get out. And He chosen to get out, because he saw the chance (The Used) is coming and learned there’er friends to change their life together. When you are freed from the pressure, you’d appreciate every moment that you can be yourself. No doubt. And since the lyricist is very kind and really care people, he wants to share the beautifulness of the freedom together with everybody who cares each other (This part is something special about this band)

Well, at www.theused.net, they say that this song a song about the band. Like, the ups and downs to being a band and touring. Btw, I see just one mistake in the lyrics. Instead of "as long as you're alive i promise i will take you there we'll drink and dance the night away"

it should be

"as long as you're alive and care I promise I will take you there We'll drink and dance the night away"

...from what i've heard from a close friend of mine, this song is really about the band. you can have your own interpretations of it from being about love or bert's ex or drugs or whatever but the main gist is that the taste of ink is about the band's rise to success. This song was the last song they made in the album from what i know and it was the first song released or at least the song that made them famous. It's about finally, after the hard work put thru the album, they've reached fame. and true enough, they had the spotlight on them. great band, beautifully written. the song's classic for our generation.

this is the best song by The Used that I have heard, although I like all that I have heard. Everyone should check these guys out.

yeah, exactly. This is a really good song. I think misplaced memories is the best, but this comes close.
