Broken Telephone Lyrics

I'll be the wind in your leaves
The warmth of the sun
I'm always drawing your colours
I'm always tracing your footsteps

It's a hard world it's a cold world
i could never say what I mean
I went looking in all the wrong places
There's nothing wrong with you

Broken telephone
The lines are down
The wires no longer reaching
Connection's gone

Higher and higher
I am taken by what you've given to me
Higher and higher
I am taken by what you've given to me
What you've given to me

I'll be the wind in your leaves
The warmth of the sun
I'm always drawing your colours
I'm always tracing your footsteps

It's a hard world it's a cold world
I could never say what I mean
i went looking in all the wrong places
There's nothing wrong with you

Broken telephone the lines are down
I throw myself at nothing
I throw myself at nothing

Higher and higher I am taken by
What you've given to me.....

I connect with this song. For one thing, her voice is amazing. It seems to me that this song is about comfort and holding on to somone she loves but actually floating away from all of the comfort.

"It's a hard world it's a cold world I could never say what I mean i went looking in all the wrong places There's nothing wrong with you"

Does that make any sense?

Some of the lyrics make me think that they're in love and fine, but the chorus seems like she's trying to break up whoever she's in love with. "I'm always drawing your colors, I'm always tracing your footsteps," made me think that she had spent to much time loving and adoring him, and that she needed to break up with him so she had something else to live for. I really don't know, but "there's nothing wrong with you," sounds a lot like a break up line. Any other ideas?
