Bushfire Lyrics

On the horizon, the landscape's burning red
Bushfire---smoke in your eyes... smoke in your eyes
If you feel something, that makes you warm all over
If you got a fire and you can't put it out---got a bushfire
Rolling through a field of molten flowers
Burning in a field of molten flowers
There's a bushfire---there's a bushfire burning---yeah

Bushfire! Bushfire! Bushfire!

My mind's been going places without me lately
I need your arms to take me down, take me to the ground
But I hold back! Get away from the heat
Hold back! In my field of vision
Hold back! Baby burning---fire

Fire in a field of molten flowers,
Fire in a field of molten flowers
There's a bushfire burning---yeah.
You better hold back! Hold back!

Bushfire! Bushfire! Bushfire!

Well I'm movin' to the beat of a big bushfire
I'm dancin' to the beat of a big bushfire
And the flames are warm and getting brighter

Well everybody loves to dance around the heat and fire
Oh lightnin' strike twice
Hey everybody bask in the afterglow---Bushfire
Naked light shining over my bed, been lying here too long
I need your arms to take me down, take me to the ground

But I hold back---get away from the heat!
Hold back! In my field of vision
Hold back! I see smoke---smoke in your eyes

Bushfire! Bushfire! Bushfire!
The landscape's burning, red hot!

This is totally about cunnilingus. Her bush is burning hot with need. The "smoke" (maybe scent) is in his eyes as his face gets up close and personal. Makes her feel warm all over, as they lay on the ground/bed, her hips dancing. Hold back, don't cum yet. Lighting strikes twice. Then basking in the afterglow. A bit ironic for Fred to be singing, since he's gay.

My Interpretation

Damn Myuz, "why u gotta do it like that?" My "bush" was dripping and body was near convulsing! Then everything stopped? Why? Cause you threw in the "gay" shit- like always! Damn! 3:00 AM- almost day break- this blonde needs a booty call- with a man who won't question EVERYTHING! What a turn off! But I need a booty call so my "bush" can get dripping wet and my body convulsing to such a weakness were it feels like I'm dying! Would you know about that? Maybe you would be interested? ...

I think this song is political and about the Bush Presidential dynasty that was being created when it was written. Like the first comment only add GW Bush as the drug addict.... Just a thought..

This song is about female sexual excitation. And she likes it when you get eye-level with the bush.

My Interpretation

i think this song is about a guy who's addicted to drugs (the fire) and he's been taking them with a bunch of friends ("everybody loves to dance around the heat and fire"). He can see that it's not good for him though ("been lying here too long) and needs his girlfriend to help him break his addiction ("i need your arms to take me down"). i might be totally off though, all you b-52s fans know how few of their songs actually have really deep underlying messages.

I'm totally baffled by the lyrics of this song, but I really enjoy it anyway. Though it's a bit frustrating to me, because I'm always wondering if there IS some kind of "deep underlying message," and I'm just not getting it. (I hate that feeling!) I've done a bit of googling (of Bushfire's lyrics), but have never seen a definitive explanation of the lyrics--if there IS one! I'm sure I'm WAY off, but I've always wondered if the lyrics were expressing paranoia about the possibility that the U.S. President at the time (1989), George H. W. Bush, might start...

Could it be about female masturbation?

I really don't think it has anything to do with drugs or a girlfriend... that doesn't sound like the B-52's at all... it probably is more sexual, I'm not too sure but the first one just doesn't match anything that I know about the B-52's... just saying...

This song is about smoking weed. Bush represents mj and the fire is what it looks like when lit, as in a joint. It makes you feel warm all over, the fields of molten flowers, mind going places lately without me, hold back (hitting it too hard)...all of this has an obvious reference to smoking joints. I can’t stand weed and this song stands out as a weed smoking celebration. Junebug makes references to smoking joints as well.

Undeniably about female sexual desire.
Like so many other B52s songs.

Every song is about sex or drugs, an this one is no exception. Must be about sex somehow.
