i think that this song is spilt in 2 as the 1st part is talking about life as in death things and the 2nd part is more about what people do in life and how they have ruined it but there will always be around it. ahh now they connect it must have to be written down before you get it.

anyway.. this song talks about life in general.. 2nd part, \"don\'t you want sunshine instead of phony lights?\" basically means; don\'t you want the real thing instead of a copy? and the rest; all your big ideas and your illusions are a fight against the feelings that you\'re trying to avoid because you think that facing them will hurt you.. or something along the lines of that.
