Let It Ride Lyrics

Good bye, hard life
Don't cry would you let it ride?
Good bye, hard life
Don't cry would you let it ride?

You can't see the mornin', but I can see the light
Try, try, try let it ride
While you've been out runnin' I've been waitin' half the night
Try, try, try let it ride

And would you cry if I told you that I lied and would you say goodbye or
Would you let it ride?
And would you cry if I told you that I lied
And would you say goodbye or would you let it ride?

Seems my life is not complete I never see you smile
Try, try, try let it ride
Baby you want the forgivin' kind and that's just not my style
Try, try, try let it ride

And would you cry if I told you that I lied and would you say goodbye or
Would you let it ride?
And would you cry if I told you that I lied
And would you say goodbye or would you let it ride?

I've been doin' things worthwhile, you've been bookin' time
Try, try, try let it ride

And would you cry if I told you that I lied and would you say goodbye or
Would you let it ride?
And would you cry if I told you that I lied
And would you say goodbye or would you let it ride?

Would you let it ride
Would you let it ride
Would you let it ride
Would you let it ride

Try, try, try let it ride
Try, try, try let it ride
Try, try, try let it ride
Try, try, try let it ride

Try, try, try let it ride
Try, try, try let it ride
Try, try, try let it ride
Try, try, try let it ride

Try, try, try let it ride
Would you let it ride?
Would you let it ride?
Would you let it ride?
Would you let it ride?

Everydoby is wrong.

It's "try, try, try to let it ride."

This song is awesome.

I thought it was always "Try, try, try to let it ride" Listen to again, it sounds right.

Love the song though.

I always thought it was "Try try try to let it ride" as well, especially since it has the "to" in there. That makes the others make no sense. Without the to, "ride" would still make more sense than "drive". I wonder if the first line above is wrong as well. It says "Hard life." I thought it was "I lied", which would fit with other lyrics in the song.

As for the meaning, it sounds like a troubled relationship. Would you forgive and "let it ride", or would you "say goodbye" and leave. I'm a little unsure of who did wrong here though. Perhaps one did wrong and the other is asking how they would react if the situation was reversed.

It's the guy speaking the whole time. She's been out running around but she asks him to forgive her. He asks her "Would YOU cry and say goodbye if I told you that I lied or would you let it ride?"

He wants to let it ride, "Beave, my life is not complete, I never see you smile", "Try, try, try to let it ride". "Baby you want the forgivin' kind and that's just not my style. Try try try to let it ride".

Sorry, but I don't think it's going to ride, girl.

And I think it's "You CAN see the morning but I can see the light". It makes more sense but it does sound more like he is saying can't.

This may be the best song, recording, ever.

Song Meaning

@TheBeckles A convoluted scenario. It seems like this: She stayed out all night. He said, I'll let it ride but he lying and really doesn't want to 'let it ride'. He wants to tell her that he lied when he said, I'll let it ride but will she 'let it ride' when he lied and said 'I'll let it ride'.

@perry11083 I think you're over complicating it. She has been lying and cheating. He's saying, "would you let it ride, if it were me lying and cheating?"

And I think the lyrics sound more like "Goodbye. High life. Don't cry. Would you let it ride?"

And later "Goodbye, high life. So fine. Would you let it ride?"

Lolololol, it is try try try, not ride. But it's also, "Goodbye, I lied" not hard life.

@Guilitine Or drive I mean

@Guilitine I think you may be right. The lyric "Goodbye, hard life" doesn't make as much sense in the context of the song as "Goodbye, I lied." And listening to it again more closely, it does sound like "Goodbye, I lied." And yes, it's "Try try try to let it ride."

@Guilitine Absolutely correct. I don't know how people can get that wrong, it's pretty clear.

no, those are the correct lyrics.

I'm not sure what the song is about, but I know how it was written! Okay so this i show it goes. One day, Randy and his band were one the road, going from Winnipeg (my hometown too) to New Orleans. And they were on the road, and they boxed in on the highway, so that is when there's a semi-truck in front and in behind you, and you can't get out. (its very scary) well I can't remember what happened, but I think someone got angry and the semi driver said "LET IT RIDE" and the song was born.

Someone should make a list of the songs that repeat the same phrase the most times. I don't think this song would win, but it would rank pretty high. 26 repeats of "let it ride" according to the lyrics above. That's pretty annoying.
