hmm. the meaning of the song to me is about a girl who is currently seeing a guy, but at the same time talking to a friend of the guy shes seeing. and at the same time the friend is starting to like her in return. sooo..
"Please tell me this means what I think it does -but secretly- so he won't see." - i think he really likes her and wants to know if she likes him too. and that line means that shes sort of leading him on and hinting to him that she likes him, but he wants her to keep it hush from his friend in fear of his friend seeing or finding out that they talk and stuff.
"My dear, I fear that your scandal has corrupted many -disrupted many- anyway." - means that her leading the friend on is starting to and may corrupt the friendship he has with his friend (her boyrfriend), and the relationship she has with her boyfriend.

Holding on to your lullabye." - this means that hes still talking to her and still likes her even though he knows its wrong because its his friends girlfriend and theyre doing this all behind her boyfriends back. and so he doesnt know why hes still talking to her when he knows it could jeopardize the friendship he has with his friend.
