Black Sabbath (From the Satanic Perspective)

For those of you that don't already know, this is a remake of the Black Sabbath song "Black Sabbath". Except it's written from the eyes of Lucifer as opposed to Ozzy's "human" viewpoint. This is an excellent cover, Peter Steele really takes to the role of Satan well.

And for flip guy, just because the song's lyrics go against your beliefs does NOT mean that the song sucks. It just means that you're easily offended, and weak minded. Anyways, anybody who knows anything about this band knows that a lot of their lyrics are sarcastic and/or tongue-in-cheek (AKA: This is just plain good songwriting, this is not devil worship). That's part of what makes them great. And besides that, people have all different kinds of beliefs, so trying to force yours upon those who read this stuff is not a good idea. Get some thicker skin, and quit reading lyrics like these if it bothers you that much.

Honestly, I appreciate the prayers dude, but there's no need to pray for any of us, cuz we're gonna come to our own conclusions about religion and shit like that. To each his own, man...

If you don't know who Geezer Butler is, and say that you are a fan of this type of music, you have some serious homework to do. The reason that his opinion of this song matters is, well, and this is quite funny, he only wrote the fuckin' thing! I do like it when other bands play Sabbath covers, too. Type O can add so much to them. I'm a huge BS fan, but Type O just plays them in a way that I personally like more. I won't say they are better, since the originals are great and this wouldn't exist without it. Other bands can add a lot to Sabbath songs, like Slayer doing Hand of Doom (it isn't what you think it is if you haven't heard it yet) or Soulfly playing Under the Sun. I think the meaning of this song is pretty clear, unless your retarded or something like that (like Flip_Guy). Seriously, if you take most of what Peter says in his lyrics, you are far more fucked up then he is. Could you imagine someone thinking that Cannibal Corpse is serious when they walk about killing people and monsters? Sadly there are people out there that want to ruin it for the rest of us. Besides, Oden could kick you gods ass. If Oden in one thing, he's cocksure. (For clarification, I don't believe in any of them)

This is a great atmospheric song. It starts off with a slow burn, but when the guitars kick in and Pete sings, "This is just the start my friends", it's just this incredible release. This also my favorite song to crank up in my car when I'm driving down the road -- when you stop at a red light with "Ave, ave, SATANAS" blaring, you get some interesting looks from the people in the car next to you!

Geezer Butler said that he really likes this cover of Black Sabbath.

wow. can't believe anyone hasn't commented to this one... I've never heard it myself (......sucks, i know) but i love the lyrics... ^_^ well it's obvious that it's lucifer who speaks ...powerful lyrics...well, that's what i think ^^

Exactly as this last guy said, this is a cover of Black Sabbaths epochal 'Black Sabbath' from Satan's perspective. However, I might like to point out the interesting fact that the last two lines (Worship the sun, worship no-one) actually seem to make a reference to atheistic or LaVey Satanism, which holds that you should have no God above yourself. The line about the sun is a reference to the idea of Lucifer as Prometheus: the tragically flawed spirit of fire who inspired the human race with free will against Gods wishes.

I think this song demonstrates that when they write their songs they do it from a neutral perspective, I mean in some of their lyrics you can read stuff like ¨forgive her for she knows not what she does¨ or ¨Father, please forgive him, for he knows not what to do¨ obiously talking to god, and then in this song they walk to the opposite side of the road. personally I think this song is a pretty good cover (Except for the ¨Ave Ave satanas¨ part) Anyways, good band, great music & incredible lyrics,

I don't know who he is, nor do I care of his perceived importance. This is a great song to me, regardless of who else endorses it... If you have to rely on someone else to justify your opinion, don't give your opinion.

I prefer Sabbath songs when they're performed by other people.
