Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want Lyrics

Good times for a change
See, the luck I've had
Can make a good man
Turn bad

So please please please
Let me, let me, let me
Let me get what I want
This time

Haven't had a dream in a long time
See, the life I've had
Can make a good man bad

So for once in my life
Let me get what I want
Lord knows, it would be the first time
Lord knows, it would be the first time

ah to be 15 again, depressed, misunderstood, and filled with unrequited love, with my parents knocking on my bedroom door telling me to turn on the lights and stop playing this song over and over and over again sigh

@wickedsprout I'm 15, misunderstood and filled with unrequited love, listening to Pleas please please let me get what I want on repeat

Oh my God, how ppl always misinterpret Morrisseys lyrics as extremely sad lyrics. They sound sad because of the song but

READ!

It's a threat! Someone is forcing someone else. (And Morrissey described this song as "a straightforward punch to the face" and that it had to be short to keep its effect. It's not a miserable song, it's a violent song.)

The life I've had "can make a good man turn bad", so please let me get what I want.

Oh yes it is! If I know my Morrissey, it is! I'm glad someone else thinks that... well, it could very well be, at least. Morrissey song's narrators are never to be trusted.

Ultimate respect. Double layer of meanings are placed here. Rare people really understand how hiddenly manipulative are Morissey's lyrics.

Depressing, bitter, melancholy, and absolutely brilliant.

'haven't had a dream for a long time' says to me that he's got one now, and has some hope. that and the fact that 'the luck i've had' not turning him bad (a good person despite his life) stop this from being the most depressing song ever. incidentally the instrumental cover version by The Dream Academy is the gallery music from Feris Bueller's Day Off. lovely version too.

Short, bitter, poignant, like Morrissey has cut through all the BS poetry and is just plainly, heartbreakingly speaking his mind...like a prayer that you mouth to yourself more than to God: "For once in my life, let me get what I want. Lord knows, it would be the first time."

This song hits the spot. I'm 22 years old and though I'm healthy and my family too, nothing ever goes right for me--like personally. With friends, guys, work, money, school....it's pathetic and depressive but when i listen to this song, I, too actually feel hope. It's like Morrissey is my other half--my best friend, my spirit. It's corny but there is a special connection I feel when I hear this song.

And the amazing thing is that it's without a doubt the kind of song that everyone relates too...look at all the covers and fans....and that fact alone, makes me feel better knowing that I'm not the only one who feels this way at times....

I'm 22 now and I completely agree with everything you said. It's nice to know that your not alone and this song is spot on in every way.

@spunkychick lol you haven't lived if u are 22

@rik1003499 You replied to a song from nearly 12 years ago, genius. Also an odd comment considering that Johnny Marr was only 21 when he co-wrote this song with Morrissey.

Love this song. Such longing and heartache. This is one of the Smiths songs that deals straightforward with the meaning and the music. It's wishful thinking in poetry.

Everyone talks about songs that make you feel something, but really, The Smiths just nail that. Long title, short song, good stuff
