Everytime You Go Away Lyrics
Everytime you go away
Hey, If we can solve any problem
Then why do we lose so many tears
Oh, and so you go again
When the leading man appears
Always the same thing
Can't you see, we've got everything goin' on and on and on
Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you
Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you
Go on and go free, yeah
Maybe you're too close to see
I can feel yor body move
It doesn't mean that much to me
I can't go on sayin' the same thing
Just can't you see, we've got everything do you even know we know
Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you, oh
Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you
I can't go on sayin' the same thing
'Cause baby, can't ya see, we've got everything goin' on and on and on
Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you
Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you
Then why do we lose so many tears
Oh, and so you go again
When the leading man appears
Can't you see, we've got everything goin' on and on and on
Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you
Maybe you're too close to see
I can feel yor body move
It doesn't mean that much to me

Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you

This song is an excellant display of the love between two people who can't seem to let go but can't seem to come together in harmoney because one person doesn't realize how amazing their relationship can be. The stab in it, is that this person keeps going back or opening their heart to other people who aren't right for them and are failed relationships from the start. Most likely because of their past experiences in life and love. They've been hurt so many times that the only love they know is the wrong kind and the love the truly doesn't exist. So people tend to continue unhealthy patterns because once a person sets precedent for something, it's hard to break. Everytime they do this, they break the narrators heart and keep taking a little piece of it. But the narrorator has made teh decision to end this cycle because even though there are reasons for the reality, that person always has a choice. Regardless of fear, pride or whatever the reason, a person can always take a chance if they choose to.
Furthermore, the narrator decides to do take action, to preserve any part of their heart that's left. Because they're finally leaving the relationship, they decide to take the persons heart from them completely. Because theres no going back and forth anymore. The person never truly gave their heart to the narrator because of the reasons I just mentioned. So now their fighting back and taking what should of been all of theirs all along. So now when the person decides to keep giving their heart away to the wrong person, they won't be able to because the narrator took it....

Meaning, they had it all along but the person didn't know how to accept love or return love to the person they truly loved. So for the rest of their lives, in relationship their in won't ever truly be right because their heart is with the narrator. I love you goodbye
One last thing.
One last thing.
You won't be able to everytime you go away anymore because I'm gone.

The song was originally performed and written by Hall & Oates, on an album that appeared in 1980 and was redone on a Paul Young album in 1985. The song is about missing his lover when she leaves, wanting her around more.

Such true lyrics, having a little piece of you go everytime they leave, feeling so incomplete. Sung with true blue eyed soul, too
For me this song has a flavour of a trio situation. A married woman taking a lover and even though they have endured the difficulties of remaining in their "forbidden love" she always goes back to her husband (the leading man) its a repetative distructive cycle. The lover feels like a piece of his heart is taken away every time she goes back and he truly believes he loves her and that what they have is special and real (we got it going on)

He is wanting to let her go but maybe she is too close/closed into her own selfishness to see his pain He can feel her body move (ref to sex and it being only about sex for her) It doesn't mean that much to him because he wants more than a sexual relationship
Thats what I see in this song anyways
This song's about missing someone who keeps breaking up with you. :(
Growing up, this is one of the songs that have stuck with me for a long time. I do not think that this is necessarily a breakup song from one lover to another after an arduous relationship.
To me, it is some kind of "We'll cross paths again someday, hopefully in more meaningful terms" thing.
It is as if the narrator is telling his betrothed: "Hey, I just don't think that our union is not working due to some odd reasons beyond our control. I regret to say that I am deeply sorry, but I will have to let you go. But, before you walk away, I just wish you would not forget that everything we had was special and ours alone. If you so choose to come back to me someday, I'll be here to welcome you home with open arms and a kiss. Farewell, my darling. Don't fret. Be safe and all the best. Know that I love you and will still do so until the end of time."
I dunno...it sounds a little Dirty-lol. Sort of like the Old Disney World TV commercial with the little boy and the Hot but prim and proper mom in the elevator. "And nine months after we left-I got a baby brother. Mom calls him her 'little souvenir!'" (Mom blushes) Well-I guess we ALL had a Great time!"
Yes the message is sometimes we have to close the door to toxic relationships. This helps us end self torture . The other person is not listening and too self focused. Their heart is closed that's how they survived. However one day they can choose to come back if they see the relationship for what it was. Anything is possible
i heard this song's about cannibalism.
