This song makes me think this guy is being treated badly by his girlfriend and when while he's good to her she tries to act like she doesnt care and then she's actually hurting him more than helping him..........

Great song. He left himself wide open to destruction and hindsight blatantly tells him why he was hurt. When he dug into the deeper side of her he loved what he saw. Deep down she must be a good person. It was her shallow side that ruined it...

beautiful song..to me it means what the people have said above, but i think most people can relate to what he is singing about...it's nice that unlike some of their other lyrics, these ones are simple and too the point, i duno whether its because this is an earlier version or not but anyways great band, great song
