You've got a fast car
I want to take it to anywhere
Maybe we can make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere
Any place is better
Starting cause you ain't got nothign to lose
Maybe we can make something
Me and myself we ain't got nothing to
Run.....

You've got a fast car
I got a plan to get us out of here
Been working at a convience store
Managing to save just alittle bit of money
Won't have to drive to far
Just across the border and into the city
You and i can both get jobs
And finally see what it means to be living

Cause i'm man
But we were driving
Driving in your car
Speeds so fast it felt like i was drunk
City lights stand out before
Seat belt hard and wrapped around my shoulder

Tonight
Had a feelings i want more
Tonight
Had a feeling i could be someone
Be someone...

See my old man gots a problem
He lives at the bottom thats the way it is
He says his bodies too old for working
His bodies to old to look like his
Then momma went off and left him
She wanted more from life she couldn't give him
Said somebody's got to take care of him
So watch whats going on when i die

:Chorus:

You've got a fast car
I got a trouble just like this
You stay out late drinking at the bar
You see more girlfriends then you do your own kids
I don't wish for more better
Thought maybe together you and me will find
Ain't got no place and going no where
So take your fast car and keep on driving

:Chorus:

You've got a fast car
Is it fast enough so you can fly away
When you try make a decision
Leave tonight or live and die this way

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
