Ah ah, ooh ooh
Ah ah, ooh ooh

White lights, strange city, mad music all around
Midnight street magic, crazy people, crazy sound

Ah ah, ooh ooh

Jack Flash, rocket man, Sergeant Pepper and the band
Ziggy, Benny and the Jets
Take a rocket, we just gotta fly
(I can take you through the center of the dark)
We're gonna fly (on a collision course to crash into my heart)
I will be your, I will be your, I'll be your
Rocket, yeah, satellite of love
Rocket, yeah, satellite of love
Rocket, yeah, satellite of love
Rocket baby, c'mon, I'll be your satellite of love

Ah ah, ooh ooh
Ah ah, ooh ooh

Spotlight magnetic razor rhythm laser love
Guitar, drums, load up, stun

Ah ah, ooh ooh

Jet Black, Johnny be, Jean Genie, Killer Queen
Dizzy Lizzy, Major Tom
So c'mon, we just gotta fly

(I can take you through the center of the dark)
We're gonna fly (on a collision course to crash into my heart)
I will be your, I will be your, I'll be your
Rocket, yeah, satellite of love
Rocket, yeah, satellite of love
Rocket, yeah, satellite of love
Rocket baby, c'mon, I'll be your satellite of love

Countdown commencing, fire one
Five, four, three, two, one, zero, we have liftoff

We just gotta fly
I can take you through the center of the dark
We're gonna fly, on a collision course to crash into my heart
I will be your, I will be your, I'll be your
Rocket, yeah, satellite of love
Rocket, yeah, satellite of love
Rocket, yeah, satellite of love
Guitar, drums, load up, we're gonna fly
Rocket, yeah, satellite of love, we're gonna fly
Rocket, yeah, satellite of love
Rocket, yeah

    My Interpretation
All of the other interpretations are probably correct. But I liked to make my own interpretation, just for fun. Basically, I think that it could be about this guy, that is telling this new girl he's dating, that to experience love with him is wild and exciting. I actually almost picture it as a rockin' (and better) version of A Whole New World from Aladdin.

Did you know that the opening garble of this song says "We're fighting for the Gods of War" backwards? One of my friends bought Hysteria on vinyl just to see. It's true!

I'm not sure on this one, but I would guess it ties to the history of rock n' roll. There are MANY references to bands who seemingly influenced Def Leppard. Jack Flash=Rolling Stones Rocket Man, Benny and the Jets=Elton John Sgt. Pepper=Beatles Ziggy=David Bowie Black=Black Sabbath? Johnny B=Chuck Berry Gene Jenie=KISS? Killer Queen=Queen Dizzy Lizzy=Thin Lizzy

I'm surprised there are not more comments on this song... It was the first Def Leppard song I listened to. Maybe that's why I'm a little biased, call me crazy.... Hysteria is unarguably the greatest album these guys put out... the first after Rick Allen loses his arm and the last complete work with Steve Clark.... Talk about a roller-coaster ride for these guys in the span of about 4 years.... or should I say... "rocket-ride"

MagicRat, I said in another comment somewhere how Def Leppard has the sweetest ass intros to their songs. I gave Pour Some Sugar On Me (original and Best of), Rock of Ages and Love Bites as examples. This is another one.

"Gene Jenie=KISS?" Jean Jeanie, surely, David Bowie? "Satellite of love" - Velvet Underground I think

This is just a song about all of their influences growing up as kids and who inspired them to be musicians. It has nothing to do with what they went through during the period between Pyromania and Hysteria. No idea where that idea comes from. The verses make several song/band references. I interpret the chorus to be a metaphor for their love of that music and how it inspired them.

I think you'll find the opening garble of this song says "We're fighting with the Gods of War" backwards - I didn't buy the vinyl - just ripped to wav then opened with Sound Recorder (standard one that comes with windows) then effects and reverse

Jack Flash = Rolling Stones (Jumpin' Jack Flash) rocket man = Elton John (Rocket Man) Sergeant Pepper and the band = The Beatles (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Song/album) Ziggy = David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust) Benny and the Jets = Elton John (Bennie And The Jets) satellite of love = Lou Reed (Satellite Of Love) Jet = Wings (Jet) ? Johnny B = Chuck Berry (Johnny B. Goode) Gene Jenie, = David Bowie (Jean Genie) Killer Queen = Queen (Killer Queen Dizzy Lizzy = The Beatles (Dizzy Miss Lizzy) Major Tom = David Bowie (Space Oddity) Those are all the references I knew about. Still uncertain about Jet Black. And I like many others used to think Dizzy Lizzy was a reference to Thin Lizzy.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Just listening for the 784,654th time....and it's just perfect in every way. Just incredible. The only reason it was remade was to scoop up a boatload of money from a more modern and accepting audience. But it is a completely different song than the other one that sounds slapped together in a few takes without a thought for the meaning. This song captivates me still, after 50+ years. Takes me to the deep South and the poverty of some who lived thru truly hard times. And the powerful spirit of a poor young girl being abandoned to her future with only a red dress and her wits to keep her alive. She not only stayed alive, she turned her hard beginnings around, became self sufficient, successful and someone with respect for herself. She didn't let the naysayers and judgers stop her. She's the one sitting in the drivers seat at the end. So, not a song about a poor girl, but a song of hope and how you can rise up no matter how far down you started. There is a huge difference between a singer who simply belts out a song that is on a page in front of them, and someone who can convey an entire experience with their voice. Telling not just a story with words, but taking you inside it and making you feel like you are there, with their interpretation.

Me and Johnny
Matt Paxton
Moyet later described how her song "Goodbye 70's" had been inspired by her disillusionment with how the late-1970s punk scene had turned out, saying, "'Goodbye 70's' is about punk and not caring how you were dressed, and then I discovered that so many of my friends that I'd thought it all really meant something to just saw it as another trend... That's what 'Goodbye 70's' was all about, about how sour the whole thing became."
