Cult Of The Subterranean Lyrics

Tonight we're gonna burn it up
till too much feels alright
The feast has been laid out
to the hungry eyes inside our minds
We are not without a cause
the passion's in our vice
We are not content to judge
or fit to moralize

We're on the outside looking in
unbreakable in all we are
Enemy of the Sun we are the subterranean
Apocalyptic daydream casual delirium

So take a deep breath and close your eyes
and be glad that you are here
Let each passing moment sterilize
and wash away like tears

Any means to and end
are the means that I use to get by
And I try to be good
but it's understood
that tonight we'll both look the other way

The smoke of all our thoughts
and cigarette exhaust
all possibility
of ever getting out
of this place
Nodding off
but still aware of all
that's pulling us to do
the things we always do

Any means to and end
are the means that I use to get by
And I try to be good
but it's understood
that tonight we'll both look the other way

We are not without a cause
we are not without a vice
We are not content to judge or moralize
So close your eyes and see
take a breath and believe
That tonight we'll both look the other way

This in my opinion is the best song on American Paradox. I really have no idea what theyre trying to say in this song, but the song itself still rocks.

to me, it seems like this song is about doing whatever you have to do just to manage.

'any means to an end, are the means that i use to get by' - doing whatever you gotta do, no matter what the consequences...

well as jason puts it on live in a dive: 'it's about freedom to do whatever you gotta do to get by'

It seems to be about how when you take a bunch of shit and your sounded by thing you hate...you finaly say "screw it" and join in, if only to get through it, that your going to quit judging it and revel in the filith, just to get by, an even though you'll hate yourself for it later, your not going to judge yourself, because that was the night you looked the other way...something like that

It's like Dante Alighieri's mental trip to Hell. It's about using drugs and getting late at night; opening up your mind's eyes. It's seen as a creed, he describes theirselves as a race, the subterrenian. Good metaphor
