Glynis was obviously written about The girl from Red Red Meat, Glynis who died of AIDs. I recommend you watch 'No Alternative' for more info.
Yeah it's about Glynis Johnson from Red Red Meat. It didn't come off the Siamese sessions, it came off another session right after that. The session was recorded at Smart Studios and included two songs; "Blew Away" and "Glynis".
I'm pretty sure the line written as:
"Who took their paths on the sand, yeah"
Is actually:
"Who turn their backs on the sea, yeah"
The latter is a somewhat common phrase about cognitive dissonance and refusing to acknowledge the elephant in the room regardless of how dangerous it might be (i.e. AIDS) because it makes life easier for us. Turning one's back on the sea, as if that'll make it any less powerful, is like consigning AIDS to a category of disease that "good" and "responsible" people don't need to worry about.

Yes, there is a little bit of an interview on my version where billy does confirm that it's about the above mentioned Glynis, or rather the reactions of others to her death. I don't know where it came from though, my uncle sent me an album called Soaping Windows, I think it came off Napster or I tunes, look there.
