I Might Get Over You Lyrics

Well, I opened my heart, and I let you in
I promised I'd never love again
And still doin what I'd said I'd do
Someday I might get over you

I wear my ring on a chain now, instead of my hand
And I deal with your memories the best I can
I've even been out on a date or two
Someday I might get over you

Oh, I never thought I'd see it
But I think I see the light now
I know that what I have to do
Is get on with my life, but I can't take another day
I can't face another night, so I just take another breath
And let it go

If I could ever feel the way I felt
I'll take a chance with someone else
And if my heart takes chances too
Someday I might get over you

Oh, I never thought I'd see it
But I think I see the light now
I know that what I have to do
Is get on with my life, but I can't take another day
I can't face another night, so I just take another breath
And let it go

Well, I opened my heart, and I let you in
I promised I'd never love again
Right now it's still somethin I can't do
Someday I might get over you

Thought it may not be til my life is through
Someday I might get over you

obvs. about a divorce... this song reminds me so much of my parents, and kind of my own situations, minus the marriage... cute.

He spilled all his emotions in this relationship that he was in, but in the end he got hurt. He no longer wants to think of her, although thoughts of her cross his mind. Basically he's trying to get over her, even if its gonna hurt him alot

"I wear my ring on a chain now" His ring, not hers.

This song is absolutely beautiful. It gives me goose bumps almost every time I hear it. I can relate to this, not in the way of marriage, but in the way of how one minute, all you'll be thinking of it one person, and they will completely consume every minute of your life in the best way possible, and then the next moment they're gone and it's never easy to fully get over that.

I agree with DreamAwake. I think its about losing someone in general, whether its from divorce, death, or anything. Just depends on the way that you would like to perceive it.
