Sundown Lyrics
You're the pearl in the quicksand
You sink without a sound
I'm the girl with the tiny hands
Planted underground
You're the dream and I'm the dreamer
In the dreams, you're still around
See the sun falling down
See the sun falling down
See the sun falling down
See the sun falling down
You're the bleach
When everything went black
The relief I found
You're the sliver of hope in my lap
You're soft, warm, round
See the sun falling down
See the sun falling down
See the sun falling down
See the sun falling down
Good night moon, good night mush
Good night lady saying Hush
Good night moon, good night mush
Good night lady saying hush
See the sun falling down
See the sun falling down
See the sun falling down
See the sun falling down
See the sun falling down
See the sun falling down
See the sun falling down
See the sun falling down
You sink without a sound
I'm the girl with the tiny hands
Planted underground
You're the dream and I'm the dreamer
In the dreams, you're still around
See the sun falling down

I've heard that it's about Kurt Cobain.. but I really don't know. I wish I did though! :(
umm, yeah I heard it was about Kurt, too. even though I don't get it... I only see this kind of relation to Kurt, and that is when she sings :
"you're the bleach when everything went black" bleach is a nirvana album, and also "You're the sliver of hope in my lap" sliver is a nirvana song !
Yeah i know its supposed to be about kurt.. but i really dont see the connection. but Catroar has a point with the bleach album... and sliver the song. and i also see "you're the dream and im the dreamer" ... "in the dreams you're still around" talking about kurt. but who knows.
I know that in a live performance of it (located somewhere on verucaslut.com) she says "this is a love song to a dead man" and i've also heard it was about kurt. I think that it is especially because of the bleach and sliver lines in the song. Then theres the fact that he kinda did sink without a sound I mean no one really saw all of it coming until he hit bottom and killed himself. And don't pay attention to the good night moon good night mush lines. She got that from a children's book.
I think this song is about Kurt's death and how he was kind of a musical hero for all of us.... probably Lousie and Nina also knew him personally...
this song processes the grief over someone who could let us dream with their songs and suddenly dying, "sinking" slowly and without anyone noticing, when he was celebrated by all the music industry but no-one paying attention that he didn't feel well...
"the sun falling down" is maybe an expression how all went black when he suddenly died and everyone was shocked. also "sun" could be a metaphor for Kurt who "fell down" and who ended his life with depression and drug addiction.
I'm the girl with the tiny hands Planted underground
Maybe this line means how she (Louise or Nina?) who was a teenager was influenced by Nirvana and their music - and their part in the underground music scene. "Tiny hands" maybe meaning that she wasn't supposed to be the "rock cliché" of a physically strong man and Kurt brought her into music and brought to her the idea that everyone can be a rock star and that women are "the future of rock" (as he said). the idea of equality and appreciation.
Good night moon, good night mush Good night lady saying Hush
...probably refers to a lullaby ("lady saying hush" meaning mother who sings a lullaby). it means how Kurt's innocence died through the tough world out there and how he got beaten by the world's cruelty... (also his parents' inability to provide a good childhood for him). and that's how a part of us all died.

Or maybe the "tiny hands" part means that when she started to play guitar, she had tiny hands
