C-C-C-Cinnamon Lips Lyrics

C-C-C-Cinnamon lips and candy kisses, on my tongue. Fun!
B-B-B-Buttery eyes, if only cries could come from those eyes. Oh!
Have you landed yet and, if so, would you let me know?
I'm tired of looking up into those starry eyes.
Does it rain where you are? Does it snow?
And, if so, remind me not to go there, the weather affects my knee.

I've never felt this way before.

C-C-C-Cinnamon Lips, go powder your cheeks and meet your
new beau, oh...
C-C-C-Counting sheep, if only sheep could put me to sleep, oh...

I've never felt this way before.

Some day (one day) you'll miss me.
Mundane Sundays, when I'm gone.
One day (some day) you'll miss me.
One day when I'm gone (adieu and so long)
One day when I'm gone!

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Have you landed yet and, if so, would you let me know?

I've never felt this way before.

ahahaha, I thought the same thing, emma. :D

Also, the drug reference doesn't cover the whole song, you're just cherry-picking the parts of it that fit the drug reference. What does the weather affecting his knee have to do with blow, eh?

I think it's just meant to be a light, happy song about being in love with someone. The part about sheep not being able to put him to sleep is more likely a reference to not being able to sleep well when they're apart than a reference to being wide awake on coke, imo. "Never felt this way before"-- do I really have to explain that? And rain and snow... it's doubtful that it's a drug reference, it just doesn't mesh. Sorry Automission, but I'm gonna have to go with love on this one, not cocaine.

The song functions on two levels, which is integral to its meaning. On the one level, as magicsheep and meet4breakfast mentioned, it's just about a fun and playful relationship with a more serious undertone. Look in deeper, though, and you'll realize it's about the effects of drug use on relationships.

As the song starts, they are using drugs to, let's say, make things more fun. He realizes amidst all the pleasure, though, that "tears [can't] come from those eyes" — the drug is messing up their emotions. As fun as it is, he realizes that it's turning their relationship into a purely superficial one, all about drugs and sex and no longer about a deeper emotion. He tries to convince her not to use drugs so much, because it's messing them up - he doesn't even know who she is anymore, because the person she used to be is lost underneath the haze of drugs. ("I'm tired of looking up into those starry eyes... does it rain where you are?")

He tells her that it's messing them up ("the weather affects my knee"), but she gets angry and dumps him for a boyfriend who's fine with her addiction. "Powder your cheeks" refers to her getting high again, and "new beau" is the new boyfriend. The tragic thing is that when this happens, the grief does what the girlfriend couldn't — he withdraws back into the land of drugs. He wishes she was back with him, and says that she will, someday, wish she hadn't dumped him. In the end, the emotions brought on by her dumping him, and his love for her, and those from the drugs, all overwhelm him.

i guess it could be about drugs, and it would make perfect sense, but i prefer to think that it's about a guy whose girlfriend is wrapped in her own little world. He loves who she is but he also wants her to come back down to earth with him. oh well..

i dunno really! ^^

i love this song so much!! everytime i think about it, i get this funny vision of tonnes of couples throughout the century, like a 50's couple at a fairground, and a 60's hippie couple outside a VW and an 80's couple by a punk rock club...its really cool lol
