This song is simply BEAUTIFUL. I don't know anything about its background, or inspiration, but I know how it makes me feel. It touches me so much. I'm one of those people that doesn't show frustration that much, and I seem to express it in my dreams, or when I go to bed. That's when I face my own demons and when I realise that, in fact, I'm stuck. I know it might be just my interpretation because of my own experience, but to me Rob is talking to a girl who always seems to get caught up with the same guy. All she can do is dream her life away, since reality is so far to what she wanted it to be. She relives the same old moments and feelings and "edits" them in her head, to not hurt so much, but her pain is unavoidable. I also get the feeling that the guy has just used her and that he's got another woman in his life ("How can you fight when she's not the one under his arm?"). He has misused her and left her bitter...("all the memories you should've had are a cabaret haze"). He's gone ("there's just a hole where you know he should've been")... "Where do you go when you're all alone in your bed, do you cry in your sleep cos it's better unsaid; have you forgotten your past because that's how it seems..." Damn, she is perfectly aware of the deception she has suffered, but she can't help it, she keeps making the same mistakes over and over, probably falling for his lies and getting caught up again. Basically, the story of my life : (
The "You've got tomorrow" at the end just gives the perfect ending to this song, filling you up with hope, saying that you might get out of that hole you're in. It makes me cry, remembering so clearly the time of my life when I used to listen to it all the time, when I was estranged and deceived by the guy I loved the most (2003) and how (after all) still I'm in the same situation today. I'm the same woman editing and reliving her dreams, suffering when it comes to wake up and face the truth and the day.

His darker songs have always been some of the most relatable songs I’ve ever heard since my life hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows either. I follow him and Aida on Instagram. Makes me feel hopeful on my own behalf and more than anything feel all warm and fuzzy inside seeing him finally happy and then some.
I took a glance thru your comments to see if something recent was there, hoping for something from the sunnier side of life. Oh, you’re definitely a Robbie fangirl like me, except for the girl part, obviously.

I think I can safely assume you’ll appreciate this here more than a meager upvote or “Great comment!” comment, and clearly, your time and effort spent writing this comment on “These Dreams” makes me think of a certain L’Oreal slogan, just minus the lotion bit.

Now I don't write here anymore, mostly because of lack of time, but of course, life happened! First of all I'd like to say it was kind of an effort for me to write, mostly because English is not my mother tongue (obviously, you can easily read the mistakes I might have made), I speak Spanish, but I've always loved music sang in english the most. 2006, around that time, it was a gloomy time for me. But then things did go better, at least for a while. My heart mended, I got in a healthy relationship for years, then I fell in love with someone else who I chose to be my partner and the father of my child, but sadly things didn't work out between us. The situation was very much like the movie "marriage story", I think it explains it quite accurately. It is very sad to tear up the family you built. It still hurts a lot. But that's a whole other story, and I'm still trying to stick my head out again. Sorry if I've dissapointed you, I wish I could tell you I'm happy now, but I'm struggling to feel better, again. I think I have been happy, though. I'm still very touched by some of the songs I've commented, I think I'm still the same person deep inside, only perhaps a little more bitter, less hopeful and more dissapointed in general. I'm also very glad for Rob and his story of personal success. He is truly an inspiration. As I said I don't comment or log in anymore, mostly because of lack of time, I barely have time for myself, and to be honest, there's very little current music that gets me. I only come when someone writes about some old comment of mine and smile at the younger-more naive version of me. Robbie got me again with his "Under the radar" albums. I would write about some songs in there that are mind-blowing and certainly moving. He got me in tears again with "The impossible". There are not many people that would write about him here, and I used to take some time to post some of his lyrics here too, since this was "my" place to read the lyrics (remember, I speak Spanish haha). Again, I barely have time to read lyrics at all. I don't think people in general know his "deep", raw side, since they only seem to see the surface, the Robbie jokey "persona".
