Let Me Give the World to You Lyrics
Last chance to make believe in always and all it seems
Train wrecks hide underneath your umbrella
Accept a frame
Destiny and on first name soliloquy
Tired symphonies play down on
Let me give the world to you my love
Let me give the world to you my love
Let me show what I'm thinking of
Let me give the world to you my love
And I wouldn't change a thing oh no
No, I wouldn't change a thing
About the way you are
Distance here to speak so far, so far
Lovers with dead excuse
Blur the line with soul abuse
Lonesome hearts just have no use right here
The new skin holds us in
As the old skin turns us on
Flicker-fade but not trade down to end
Let me give the world to you my love
Let me give the world to you my love
Times are hard and we're the last in line
Cause in my grief I've forgotten what was mine
And I wouldn't change a thing
No, I wouldn't change a thing
About the way you are
Distance here to speak so far, so far
Let me give the world to you my love
Let me give the world to you my love
Let me give the world to you my love
Let me give the world to you my love
Train wrecks hide underneath your umbrella
Accept a frame
Destiny and on first name soliloquy

Let me give the world to you my love
Let me show what I'm thinking of

This song deserved better than an nondescript spot on the internet-released Machina II (which was a great album, don't get me wrong!!). However, this song would have been an unbelievable addition to either Adore OR Machina, although I understand why Billy chose to leave it off of Adore. "Let Me Give the World to You" just doesn't quite...fit--sorry, I can't really explain it any better. But the song does seem to fit with the songs on Machina...another jaded love song in the vein of Wound. Let Me Give the World is one of Billy's best, and if you don't have Machina II, you HAVE to get it...somehow.
I love this song. Its calming and the lyrics are so sweet. oh and you can download Machina II at www.metrochicago.com........you should.
Obviously the above quote from Billy himself is the essence of what this song is about. But to further that quote somewhat:
I think the protagonist is quite grief-stricken and has finally decided just to lay it on the line and proclaim that he's willing to do anything to make this girl happy and to stay with him.
Meanwhile, this girl still holds this misguided belief that something better, someone perfect, is right around the corner. Even though, perhaps, all you can really ask for in someone is a person who tries.
Good lyrics but have not heard the song : (
Billy explained the essence of this song and how he wanted to put it on Machina but deterred from doing so because of some reason I can't remember. Anyways, he said this song was to all the females in relationships. From a male's perspective, they (men) can give women everything and still not be satisfied.
Take from the uncut version of Storytellers and in Billy's exact words "me as a boy is speaking to girl and saying 'let me give the world to you because obviously nothing else is going to fucking make you happy' and girls, you know what I am talking about"
responding to why SP didn't include this on Machina I :I think that they and the label thought that the album was getting to long and that this would put it over the edge. It would have pushed it really close to another double disc (which it really should have been a triple disc, as shown by the release of Machina II). I think that this could have fit on Adore just fine. It is a lot like Perfect in many ways. But oh well. Atleast it got out there to the fans in the end.
He didn't put it on because it was a long song and the album was too long already.
Oh ghostchild said that already. ^^ But yeah great song nevertheless.
