Scavenger Of Human Sorrow Lyrics
What pain will it take
To satisfy
Your sick appetite
Go in for the kill
Always in sight
Prey
The time always right
Feast
Feed on the pain
Taste
Sorrow made flesh
Sweet
Live how you want
Just don’t feed on me
If you doubt what I say
I will make you believe
Shallow are words
From those who starve
For a dream not their own to
Slash and scar
Big words, small mind
Behind the pain you will find
A scavenger
Of human sorrow
Scavenger
Abstract theory
The weapon of choice
Used by a scavenger
Of human sorrow
Scavenger
So you
Have travelled far
Across the sea
To spread your
Written brand
Of misery
Always in sight
Prey
The time always right
Feast
Feed on the pain
Taste
Sorrow made flesh
Sweet
Live how you want
Just don’t feed on me
If you doubt what I say

Actually, about this song can be written a lot.It is a song, for my thoughts, written about people who hurt others, but they look as they could never hurt anyone. It can be used for description of people which are deeply evil, but look so soft and unable to hurt, or bring any kind of pain to others...That I think:) But also, we can use this song as a metaphor for feeling which is deep within us, and which is making us to hurt others.I think about that part of human being which we all have, some of it is evil and some of it is not...
Wondeful song, but quite obscure meaning... maybe about people wo love to hurt other people.
I always figured it was about journalists who always focus on human suffering to boost their ratings. Or it could be about corporations who sell us things we don't need and are harmful (like cigarettes and fast food) and who rip off farmers in third world contries all for the own profit.
The latter seems to fit well with "So you Have travelled far Across the sea To spread your Written brand Of misery"
You are an Idiot...Seriously. I hope you aren't as stupid now as you were when you posted this.

This song is about journalists and media in general that paint pictures in a negative light for their own benefit.

He wrote the song about a lot of the slander that the media tried to shovel onto Chuck (saying he was a homosexual, devil worshiper, etc etc).

Guys, your on the right path I think.... Definitely about those who are sociopaths FOR SURE! The proof is in the pudding, such great lyrics! Its exactly the behavior that sociopaths emulate to lure you in! Everything in those lyrics is conducive to the attributes these types of fucked up people do! The similarities are very commom...... Also from this album "To Forgive Is To Suffer" and "Bite The Pain" follow the same footprints lyrically. What superbulicious by ole Chuck, may the gods of metal never take away his Jackson Warrior guitar and have it always cranked to 11!
Reaching into the dark, retrieving light! a search for answers, on thee perennial quest! where dreams are followed, and time is a test!
To me a lot of the lines make sense if you look at it from the perspective of someone with a depression. Those people are in a sense "scavengers of human sorrow". They are stuck in their own misery and suck in those people around them that are trying to help. Always searching for the worst in things. The song is from the perspective of someone who is sick of depressed people using this mechanism.
But I'm sure this is only one of the many possible interpretations :)
Fucking great song.
Chuck's vocals are incredible.
I think it is about someone who wants everybody to feel sorry for them. "So you have traveled far Across the sea To spread your Written brand Of misery"
Maybe this part means someone who says they have been through the worst stuff possible (when they haven't) and they tell other people so they can just "feed" off of their sympathy/empathy. But that's just my opinion.
This song is about the human vampires, metaphorically speaking. The parasitic leach that attatch themselves to you and drain your lifeforce. The person who feeds themselves on the fruits of your labor. The one who always takes and has nothing to give in return. The one who travels their journey on the backs of others.
Quite possibly DEATH's most technical song, i love it
its about john lennon
