Yeah, the title Barfly speaks itself. But the words of the song sound more like drug abuse to me. What about "one more fix", or "take the edge away"? Couldn't it be about drugs?
i think that was the intention, to parallel alcohol abuse with the abuse of say, heroin, hence "one more fix", in order to point out the seriousness of an alcohol addiction
