Space Child Lyrics
Goin' through pages
and lookin' down lines and lines
Space of your life is only passing you by
Space child ages as he turns and faces the lie
Then after laughter was caught in his throat as he died
Fly on homeward
Worlds spinnin' by brings clouds in your eye tonight
The space of your life is only passing you by
and lookin' down lines and lines
Space of your life is only passing you by
Space child ages as he turns and faces the lie
Then after laughter was caught in his throat as he died
Fly on homeward
The space of your life is only passing you by

i always thought this song was about a kid becoming an astronaut as an adult, and going to space, just to die young and staring at the earth while doing so. the lie could be that nobody thought he would make it back, but sent him up there anyways.
this song, especially during the solo, makes me visualize a young guy or girl caught up in fast living and making bad decisions left and right until one day they find themselves lying face up in the corner of a dim-lit smoke-filled hotel room choking on their own vomit or ODing and everyone else in the room is too fucked up on drugs themselves to help or care or even notice. makes me think maybe it was written about Hendrix and/or just people who die young that way in general. beautiful song, anyways
