I'm Still Here

This song is from Alice, and it's about Alice, after she was written/created and she feels left behind. The first time I heard this song it was really late at night, I was alone, and drunk, and I sobbed and sobbed. It's so pretty and sad.

These lyrics are wrong - it's "someone turn the lights back ON", not "off". Please correct! This is one of my favourite songs.

I can admit to being really skeptical and not wanting to believe that this was about Alice, seeing as the album seems to be just a collection of unrequited love songs with Alice in Wonderland being the recurring theme (ok. Not all of them. I'd hardly call Kommienezuspadt a love song, hah.) but it just makes so much sense, grrrrr. It makes so much sense and it's such a good concept, the fact that she's grown up and he's lost interest, it's so clever. I really liked the Alzheimers idea though. It's just, all the references, 'you dreamed me up', like the character Alice, and then ohhhh this song is so beautiful. What an awful/incoherent comment. Never mind.

This is Alice's reply to the speaker in the title song of the album. He sings his love to Alice, he's entranced... but years later when the pond is clear and time is no longer an issue, she waits, but he seems to have forgotten her.

I believe it is a dream. He wanders back to the pond, only to see Alice's apparition speaking to him the words he longs to hear.

I felt like I had already heard this song when I first heard it.

I was the same way, this song sounds so familiar and still new.

I believe the song is about Alzheimer's. The first part, to me, is about the person who has alzheirmer's and has a short time of lucidity.

The second part is about the person taking care of the first one and rediscovers, with this short spark of lucidity, the person he or she once loved.

" Your watch has stopped and the pond is clear Someone turn the lights back off I'll love you til all time is gone "
