Sinnerman Lyrics
Oh sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Sinner man where you gonna run to?
Where you gonna run to
All on that day?
Well I run to the rock
Please hide me, I run to the rock
Please hide me, I run to the rock
Please hide me lord
All on that day
But the rock cried out
I can't hide you, the rock cried out
I can't hide you, the rock cried out
I ain't gonna hide you God
All on that day
I said rock, what's the matter with you, rock
Don't you see I need you, rock
Lord Lord Lord
All on that day
So I run to the river
It was bleedin', I run to the sea
It was bleedin', I run to the sea
It was bleedin'
All on that day
So I run to the river, it was boilin'
I run to the sea, it was boilin'
I run to the sea, it was boilin'
All on that day
So I run to the Lord
Please help me Lord
Don't you see me prayin'?
Don't you see me down here prayin'?
But the lord said
Go to the devil, the Lord said
Go to the devil
He said go to the devil
All on that day
So I ran to the devil
He was waiting, I ran to the devil
He was waiting, I ran to the devil
He was waiting
All on that day
I cried, power
Ring down
Oh I run to the river
It was boilin' I run to the sea
It was boilin' I run to the sea
It was boilin' all on that day
So I ran to the lord
I said lord hide me
Please hide me
Please help me
All on that day
Said God where were you
When you are old and prayin'
Lord lord hear me prayin'
Lord lord hear me prayin'
Lord lord hear me prayin'
All on that day
Sinner man you oughta be prayin'
Oughta be prayin' sinner man
Oughta be prayin'
All on that day
Sinner man where you gonna run to?
Where you gonna run to
All on that day?
Please hide me, I run to the rock
Please hide me, I run to the rock
Please hide me lord
All on that day
I can't hide you, the rock cried out
I can't hide you, the rock cried out

Lord Lord Lord

Go to the devil, the Lord said
Go to the devil
He said go to the devil
All on that day
He was waiting, I ran to the devil
He was waiting, I ran to the devil

This song is about the inevitability of your devils resurfacing no matter where you run. It's about how that which you run from will consume you because you will begin to see those qualities resurface in everything. It's an emotion that you're running from, not a thing outside of you. Because of this you're running from yourself and will never be away from it. The only way out of that is to purify yourself, not to run away from it.
@pm325 Exactly. And many people will tell you otherwise.

Sounds like Revelation 6:15 - 17 to me.
15 Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slaves and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, 16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
@kirk104719 It does sound like she threw that passage in there.

this is my favourite song, on the earth.
I love this version musically, but I in terms of lyrics I really miss the verses. They're so powerful and moving; I think the song suffers without them.
I agree The song has a great beat and is fun to listen and dance too but it misses the meaning and soul of the original. For the original lyrics go to this link: http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/115557/

The first time I heard this version of the song was on a commercial by HTC for one of their new phones and I instantly recognized that distinctive piano rhythm

This song, it seems to me, is about being human.
Instead of hiding from sin (which is impossible), or feeling bad about it (which will lead you think of you as evil), you are to be praying and accepting.
yeah, you look for acceptance in things... the rock is material things, the river is alcohol and so on.

wow i like that the rock is material things, and even one more, that the rock hides her but she cant hide because its all 'on that day' - judgement day river- the river bleeds if you notice, physical conditions related to boozing

the sea - is like the abyss everything bad, when you just plunge into doing wrong, and its boiling because its so sinful and there is a desperate cry to God who is disdainful of her repentance and says "where were you?'

This song caught my attention since I was watching The Reichenbach Fall episode of Sherlock. The meaning is deep and the musician awesome. Just wonderful. Twin thumbs up
A few seconds of this song and a remix of this song by Felix da Housecat is featured in the movie "Cellular".
this song is so timeless beautiful.

The story of Satan doing what God made him for. Very meaningfull.
That is NOT what God made Hallel (orignial name, do some research) for. You see, people get the idea God is omniscient. First of all, I'm not saying he's not all-knowing, but that depends on people's definitions of all-knowing? Where does it specifically say God is omniscient to the point where he knows everything that's going to happen? That's a word man used to describe God. Saying God is omniscient means he gives no free will to people, in a sense. Now, I want you to think of the Metallica album "Master of Puppets."...

But rel;igioussly: the devl. Saying God controls us is horrible.
God made an archangel with free will. But God had never seen evil before. When Lucifer rebelled, God had to alter his plan for man. This may sound heathenous, but why would anyone think God would create an evil being, or create someone while knowing that creation would turn evil?
God di not make the devil. He made free will, and he made ther archangel, but he did not make evil. The devil is the king of liars, and other nicknames hint at the devil creating evil, and not God. God is not the father o the devil.
In fact, the Holy Bible tells us the timelines of Adam's three sons. But only two of them: Seth and Abel, were called descendants of God. Cain was expelled from the God family.
This was my first Nina song. Heard it on The Thomas Crown Affair and it's hard to think of a song who goes better with a movie than this one. The part with the piano playing while Crown steals the painting is so awesome. It gives some sort of lightness to the movie. Same thing in the end.
Fun movie. Great song.
