My Man's Gone Now Lyrics
My man's gone now
Ain't no use a listenin'
For his tired footsteps
Climbin' up the stairs
Old man sorrow's
Come to keep me company
Whisperin' beside me
When I say my prayers
When I say my prayers
He come aroud
He come up, he come around
Ain't that I mind workin'
Workin' means travelers
Journeyin' togheter
To the promised land
But old man sorrow
Mountin' all the way with me
Tell' me that I'm old now
Since I lose my man
Since I lose my man
Since I lose my man
Ain't no use a listenin'
For his tired footsteps
Climbin' up the stairs
Come to keep me company
Whisperin' beside me
When I say my prayers
When I say my prayers
He come up, he come around
Ain't that I mind workin'
Workin' means travelers
Journeyin' togheter
To the promised land
Mountin' all the way with me
Tell' me that I'm old now
Since I lose my man
Since I lose my man

This song is so real! Always makes me cry. It's about when you've been with somebody all your life, yo've been loving this person and now he's gone and you cannot get used to being on your own... it's like you feel the life is comming to an end. So sad. So inevitable... How come there are only few comments on Nina's songs? Don't you love Nina Simone, people???
@LucyInTheSkyWithRH Yes this truly is a devestating song. Nina's voice just carries the words of the song with such an incredible and real sorrow that you almost cannot help yourself from crying every time. I love Nina and yes it really is weird that nobody are commenting on her songs, (except Sinnerman, though 20 comments is too little for a song like that imo.) especially considering how popular she is, isn't people taking her serious? I am here atleast, though 20 years too late... :-)
