Make Me A Chevy Lyrics
Make me a Chevy because an old Chevy made me. And a young one makes me a Chevy. Where would I go and how do I explain your body to the rest of my day. I'm not as good as the interstates are I just can't take you that far. Maybe Dick Clark and Davey move a car but not as good as the interstates are. I can't take you that far away. So stay.

I think that the song is generally about being in love with a girl but not being sure if he really deserves her. "how would I explain your body to the rest of my day" is probably a sexual reference and the almost nonsensical comparison to the interstates might be a metaphor for how he can't give her the things she wants in life.
No comments about this song?! It might be obvious what it means, but I'm afraid to assume. I suspect, though this is unlikely, that it may be literal due to the fact that I think Davey was driving an old Chevy in the "Why Did We Ever Meet" music video. The again it could be a metaphor which uses a Chevy, something prevalent in his life with possibly a relationship with someone. Maybe a sexual relationship. I mean "... how do I explain your body to the rest of my day."
I don't think it's nonsensical when he mentions the interstate. I think she won't let him fuck. And he's not as good as a boyfriend because he can't take her away from everything and he can't take her "that far." I dunno, either way it's brilliant.
well, to me this song takes a more metaphorical meaning. i believe that the line 'make me an old chevy' might just be Davey comparing himself to another guy that a girl he is infatuated with is dating. I think to the "narrator" the other guy is somehow "superior" in design and value as far as the girl is concerned. Davey or the narrator is in turn an old beat up chevy, while this other guy is much more valuable to the girl.
just my thoughts, if they even make sense.
I think it's about liking someone, but feeling inferior or like you can't give them enough. It's not necessarily that negative, though...it's like "hey, I'm not that great, but you should still stay".
