We could do more outdoor things,
If we weren't so busy getting busy.
Doing laundry finally,
The first sign of first light,
Still nothing to wear between us.
Now I am so filled with just one girl my eyes barely open
And I can barely read.

So this is the end of the past,
The first sign of first light,
Its alright between us.
I got my body and my mind on the same page
And now happiness is all the rage.
Still nothing to wear between us.
Happiness is all the rage.

How could no one have commented on this song?! Well anyways, this is the song that got me hooked on TPR and "Very Emergency" is an awesome album. Buy it. This is my personal favourite from them. It's worth listening to. So give it a go!

whoops, stupid keyboard, as i was saying, i love this song, although i must point out that it's "SO doing laundry finally," "still THERE'S nothing to wear between us," "NOW its alright between us," and "and, HONEY, now happiness is all the rage." but those trangressions are minor at most! this is the first son i ever heard by tpr, and i love it! so easy going and rather suggestive...and by rather i mean completely, haha

Once I was feeling rather depressed, and I sat down in a field at Connecticut College's Floralia Festival. All of a sudden, this cover band comes on and plays this song and it reminded me that "happiness is all the rage." I couldn't help but to smile.

My happiness was all the rage once, and it was because I liked some guy a heck of a lot that I was so happy. And then he started liking someone else... and i was mad. I dont think that has to do with the song, but whatever.

Great song live. It's really funny how it pauses and you can tell who doesn't know the song because they start clapping.

It's true. How can anyone know what happiness feels like without experiencing the opposite. I use that rage and pent up aggression to fuel my good times :0)

In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
