After the Glitter Fades Lyrics

Well I never thought I'd make it
Here in Hollywood...
I never thought I'd ever
Want to stay...
What I seem to touch these days
Has turned to gold...
What I seem to want
Well you know I'll find a way

For me...it's the only life
That I've ever known
And love is only one...
Fine star...away
Even though the living
Is sometimes laced with lies...
It's alright...
The feeling remains
Even after the glitter fades

The loneliness of a one night stand
Is hard to take
We all chase something
And maybe this is a dream
The timeless face of a rock and roll
Woman...while her heart breaks
Oh you know...the dream keeps coming
Even when you forget to feel

For me...it's the only life...
That I've ever know
And love is only one...fine star away
Even though the living
Is sometimes laced with lies...
It's alright...
The feeling remains...
Even after the glitter fades

For me...it's the only life
That I've ever known
And love is only one fine star away
Even though the living
Is sometimes laced with lies
It's alright...
The feeling remains
Even after the glitter fades
Oh you know...the feeling remains
Even after the glitter fades
Oh the feeling remains...
Even after the glitter...fades

"it was about loving to do this part of it, and balancing it with the other part of it, the not glitter part of it." -- "it's about the glitter part getting you through." - S.Nicks on "After the glitter fades."

Obviously like she said, about the balance rock stars feel and often struggle with, between loving to sing and do shows, and not enjoying the fame, and lack of privacy part of the whole thing..sometimes it's not all "glitter."

GREAT SONG BY STEVIE! It has a more country feel, than most Stevie songs, hey it even peaked on the COUNTRY CHARTS in 82!! It's a great song. Faith Hill says it's one of her all time favorites! It really is a great song, written about the price often paid for music....especially being one of Rock's leading lady, STEVIE NICKS!

@BlueCrystalMirror True - and funny enough, this track was written in 1972, way before she became famous

Another great and intelligent song by Stevie. And great observation of showbusiness world that is not so cool like many think. At the beginning it's quite fine because you become famous and your dreams come true but later you also face with the darker side of it all that may destroy you both physically and mentally. "The loneliness of a one night stand is hard to take" - I have read that Stevie describes here a situation when you're on a stage or you just have an permormance and there are many poeple all around, paparazzi, cameras etc. and then you find yourelf in an empty and quite hotel room and this contrast is a schock for you. "The timeless face of a rock and roll woman while her heart breaks" - here she's singing how exausted you can be and how you got enough of it all. Let alone the other issues like pressure, loneliness, lack of understanding/ supporting/friends etc. Actually this is a sad song :/
