We Can Be Together Lyrics
We can be together
Ah you and me
We should be together
We are all outlaws in the eyes of America
In order to survive we steal cheat lie forge fred hide and deal
We are obscene lawless hideous dangerous dirty violent and young
But we should be together
Come on all you people standing around
Our life's too fine to let it die and
We can be together
All your private property is
Target for your enemy
And your enemy is
We
We are forces of chaos and anarchy
Everything they say we are we are
And we are very
Proud of ourselves
Up against the wall
Up against the wall fred (motherfucker)
Tear down the walls
Tear down the walls
Come on now together
Get it on together
Everybody together
We should be together
We should be together my friends
We can be together
We will be
We must begin here and now
A new continent of earth and fire
Come on now gettin higher and higher
Tear down the walls
Tear down the walls
Tear down the walls
Won't you try
Ah you and me
We should be together
We are all outlaws in the eyes of America
In order to survive we steal cheat lie forge fred hide and deal

disgrace that there isn't any comments on this song its practically an anthem for the 60's rebellious society. At least that't how I would put it best.

The great "60s rebellion" ended before the Vietnam War ended. It ended when Richard Nixon announced there were no longer going to send draftees to Vietnam. He then executed massive heavy bombing of North vietnam. In short the "rebellion" was just a bunch of spoiled brats run amok.

This song is unquestionably Jefferson Airplane's finest moment, and they had many fine moments.
This was the first song in musical history to feature the word "fuck", no kidding. Bad language in those times was a no-no. I'd love to go to a protest and play this song. But of course I've got a 6 hour play list of The Beatles, Rage Against the Machine, Disturbed, Live, and other songs of revolution.
Grace was in a band called "The Great Society" before she joined the Airplane. "White Rabbit" and "Somebody to Love" were originally Great Society songs. Grace wrote another song with them called "Father Bruce" about Lenny Bruce, the taboo-busting comedian of the '60s. Guess what the last word of that song was...

Is the song about racism?
Well the line "Up against the wall, motherfucker" is a Black Panther slogan or something, I believe. So that wouldn't be surprising.
Kantner wrote it as a call to arms to mobilize the liberal to radical left and all it's various factions. I believe Abbie Hoffman inspired him to write it.
To Spog Zallagi:
This was the first time the word "fuck" was uttered on national television when they played it on the Dick Cavett show in '69. There is no way to know if it was the first time fuck was ever said in a song, and I can just about guarantee you it's not. Music has been around a LONG time.
not necessarily about racism, but the youth of the time's in general. like floydian said, 60's rebellious society, ya know?
