Blue On Black Lyrics
night falls, and im alone
skin, yeah chilled me to the bone
you, turned and you ran,
oh yeah,
oh slipped, right from my hand
hey
blue on black
tears on a river
push on a shove
it dont mean much
joker on jack
match on a fire
cold on ice
a dead mans touch
wisper on a scream
doesnt change a thing
dont bring you back
blue on black
oh yeah, blue on black
blind, oh, now i see
truth, lies, and in between
wrong, cant be undone
oh slipped, from the tip of
your tounge
hey
blue on black
tears on a river
push on a shove
it dont mean much
joker on jack
match on a fire
cold on ice
a dead mans touch
wisper on a scream
doesnt change a thing
doesnt bring you back, yeah
blue on black
oh, blue on black
oh, yeah
blue on black
tears on a river
push on a shove
it dont mean much
joker on jack
match on a fire
cold on ice
is a dead mans touch
wisper on a scream
doesnt change a thing
dont bring you back

I think this song starts out telling about a guy telling about the pain he goes through every day dealing with the pain and emptyness that he goes through in times when he is alone and has nothing to keep his mind off the pain. And nothing he does can mask or take away the pain. It is all irrelevant " Blue on Black, tears on a river, push on a shove, etc. And then the second part is him reliving the last thing or things that she said to him for the last time. Hes had enough and he comes to terms "blind now i see" with the fact that she is gone and never coming back. And there is nothing he can do about it once again because whatever he does is irrelevant because she will never change. Im going through a divorce right now so maybe I am seeing it through different eyes. But this song is helping me out alot. I always thought it was just a bad ass upbeat song and never listened to the words really until recently. Now its an even more badass song that not only has bad ass music but heart, soul, and realness. I know the guy who wrote this experienced alot of pain and put it into lyrics. Awesome, thats what real music is about. Its the difference between just a catchy pop song that is only written to sell records and true music. Pretty much all of Kenny Wayne Shepherd songs are that way. Dying breed.....
I really can't beleive that a lot of people only know Kenny Wayne because of this song!! This song is fuckin sweet but if you like this then get one of his cd's because there is more where this came from!! "Joker on Jack" and "Whisper on a scream" says to me that no matter what you do someone will be there to top you and take what you were working for. Like this guy/girl you want and think you have her/him with a whisper but here comes someone that out does you with a scream. Then you try every thing you can to get them back. But no matter what it won't happen then you lose yourself "doesn't bring you back" But that is just I get from it. I have been listening to Kenny Wayne since I was like 10 years old when he first started. In fact I think he might have been around before that?! Any way this song rocks.
i think this songs bout his woman cheatin on him
blind, oh, now i see truth, lies, and in between wrong, cant be undone oh slipped, from the tip of your tounge
? reminds me of someone...bitch
i gotta admit this song is catchy as hell :)
i like the song... reminds of the guy who liked to blame me for everything.. then beat the fuck out of me... pull my hair when you call me a bitch.. bitch.
@justagirlsavetime Heart goes out... This is a song with so many interpretations... in the end... we are all products of our experiences.

He did her wrong. He regrets it and nothing he says or does can bring her back. Because....just like the words that "slipped from the tip of her tongue", "Wrong can't be undone"
hell yes Kenny is fuckin awesome!!
The way I interpret this song is that he said or did something to his girl that caused him to lose her, and it was so bad that no matter what he does to get her back, he knows it'll never outweigh what he said or did to lose her in the first place. Things like "blue on black," "cold on ice," whisper on a scream," are things that seem insignificant and even get lost under the force of the other. So whatever he can say now to try to make up for it, is like blue on black - overpowered by the original deed, so it won't bring her back. Or, considering the line "slipped from -your- tongue," this could also mean the other way around - somebody hurt him so badly that no matter what she does - well, you get the picture. It's a bit confusing as this sort of contradicts "doesn't bring you back."
I believe this song represents a failure. Some one who has reached the a place where few people have or every will. He is questioning the very truths which govern his total existance. This is a song about a man who is waiting to die.
I thought it was about a female friend or sister of his being abused by a boyfriend, or something. Who knows, I may be way off but it just seems like it could be that.
