I think ozzie wrote this song after sam kinneson died...the comidian that used to scream a lot. Ozzy was real good friends with him and they found him dead in his car on the side of the road during a snow storm
It's certainly about the pain of death and the hope of being reunited with loved ones on the 'other side'.
But the 'other side' might not neccesarily be heaven - it could be lots of things.
Ozzy has come to grips with his mortality and realizes at some point he will have to transition with death. Powerful song.
