Lazybones Lyrics

When all the limbs are numb and clean,
and you're in transit, dream to dream,
I'll drift there to meet you, lazybones.

When all the world has lain and sank,
and money sleeps inside the banks,
I'll drift there to meet you, layzbones.

Cameraman sways to remember how the eye dances,
drunkenness is a hand-held
scrambling down Delancey
I come stumbling;
well I hear you had to take a shine
and firing at random, I hear the rays fell upon mine.

Cool you, Miss Amaze, with a handful of water
trucks encircling, bearing down, coming louder.
If I could stay here, under your idle caress
and not exit to the world and phoniness and people.

When all the noise has left your head
will someday you rise off the bed?
I'll be there to lift you, lazybones.

It's about a guy who does heroin that falls in love with a girl who's drunk, and they don't really click because their drugs aren't really compatible.

Mike's words, not mine.

The Lust in Phaze album thing says that this song is about a drug junkie and a drunk trying to make a relationship work. I love the quote "If I could stay here under your idle caress and not exit to the world an phoniness and people." If you've ever felt like you want to isolate yourself from the fakeness of the world and be with one person but truly be with them that quotes sums it all up.

I think this song is about love...obviously...but its about the feeling of utter happiness that you feel when ur in love, and it doesn't matter what you are doing as long as it is with that other person cuz everything is blissful. Simple things like Doughty describes in this song take on a whole new light because of his intense emotions. The imagery in this song is unbelievable.

I don't see love song, I'm with the drug references. Limbs numb and clean, drifting dream to dream. Could be love, but sounds like getting high. The interesting part to me is the "cool you, miss amaze with a handful of water" Seems like an OD or something. Cool her down with water. Trucks encircling getting louder, possibly emergency vehicles coming in, the sirens get louder as they get closer. When the noise leaves her head and she's ready to sober up and face the world, he'll be there to help.

Love and drugs are not mutually exclusive, even if they are problematic together, which is exactly what Doughty seems to be saying. It does seem like the other person is more likely to be the junkie and the singer to be the drunk - from the lines "you're in transit, dream to dream" and "drunkenness is a handheld, Scrambling down Delancy, I come stumbling" ... but this was in Mike's full on heroin phase, so who knows? He drank a lot, too.

great song, everything fits together so well...i dunno about the drunk and junkie tie in's i think mr ziggenz hit it dead on...it's about being entranced by love and just wanting to stay with the girl forever and forget about everything else

Iv'e never read the book, but there is a book called lazybones about some chick that dies or something like that.... I think it might have something to do with that. I'm not a reader but if someone wants to go out and read it and reply to this cause i'd like to know if it has anything to do with it.

the book "Lazybones" by Mark Billingham is a murder mystery where all the victims are male sex offenders, strangled with clothesline.

probably not related

Especially since the book was published 7 years after the song.

Not trying to be THAT GUY, but just making a note.
