I'm waving my dick in the wind, waving my dick in the wind
If it all goes right, I'll be in your arms tonight
But I'm waving my dick in the wind

I'm lost in the sauce once again, I'm lost in the sauce once again
If I make it through the night, everything will be alright
But I'm lost in the sauce once again

It's been 97 days since I've laid my head beside you
And a million miles of highway in between
There's some red and blue lights that are shinin' right behind me
And that pig's a pretty mean bastard

You should have seen old Jimmy Wilson dance
You should have seen old Jimmy Wilson dance
Give that boy a dime and you could a chance
To see old Jimmy Wilson dance

Dance Jimmy
I'm doin' the best I can there, Deaner
That's it
You know I can't really dance like I used to, I mean I try,
But I'm an old, old man now

I've got a real good feelin bout' old Jimmy Wilson
Sho' nuff' he's got what it takes
Do another number for me please won't ya Jimmy
Cause you're a really good dancer

Ooh yeah, help me now

I'm waving my dick in the wind, waving my dick in the wind
If it all goes right, I'll be in your arms tonight
But I'm waving my dick in the wind
Waving my dick in the wind
Waving my dick in the wind

ok, now i'm fucked up on a lot of drugs right now. I think i found the meaning! It's a love song, like every ween song. The phrase "waving my dick in the wind" is his way of calling attention to himself. He's trying to call so much attention to himself that the chick will see him, and fall back in love with him. With him being "lost in the sauce" that means that the attention he's called to himself has caused an uproar in such a way that the police are now onto him. He's worried about the cops because if they arrest him then he will never get back together with the chick. Jimmy Wilson is his willpower. Now that he's been fucked over by the cops, he feels that he will never be able to get together with the chick. Back before he was fucked over "Jimmy Wilson" was able to do just about anything he wanted, including dance. Now that he's been fucked over though, old Jimmy can't even dance. But he's not going to give up that easily, then it hits him, if he "waves his dick in the wind" while in prison, the chick may notice him there, and bail him out and then they would fall in love.

Of course it has a meaning. It's about a guy who's got really, really drunk (lost in the sauce once again), and is driving drunkenly down the road with a cop car coming up behind him, and it sounds as though he's waving his dick out the car window. At the cop, more than likely.

No idea why the hell Jimmy Wilson comes into it, though.

Personally how I feel about the song is that it's a cycle of a relationship.

"I'm waving my dick in the wind" He's happy about being in this relationship or whatnot. "I'm lost in the sauce once again" He's started drinking "Its been ninety-seven days " He's running away "That pig's a real bastard" He's been pulled back into it "Shoulda seen old Jimmy wilson dance" He's nostalgic about his days alone and lost opportunities "I've got a real good feeling about old Jimmy Wilson" He decides to leave for good and take up his old passion of being Jimmy's manager, but Jimmy's old now too. "I'm waving my dick in the wind" While on the road he finds a new chick.

I think the song has more to do with him getting drunk and exposing himself in public. He probably has a job that requires him to travel.

The Jimmy Wilson stuff I also don't understand either. Just reminiscing maybe?

waving my dick in the wind is a metaphor. i think its about a guy whos been away for a long time, possible getting sober. but now hes drunk, on his way home to be with the one he loves, with a cop behind him. waving his dick in the wind means hes not doing anything to help his situation.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
