I call you up, you pick up.
You call my bluff, on the cards of love.

You hold too close, your hands to your chest.
I can read your eyes, but I confess.

It's lonely far from you, even when you're right by me.
It's only while I wait for you, to take my hand

Why do I beg like a child for your candy? Why do I come after you like I do?
I love you. Whatever you are, I swear. You'll be my angel.
You.

I play my cards as best I can. But I lose my luck when you're not here.
My darling heart, won't you please give in?
I may be strong but I want you back again.

When you're not here, oh, it's hard to pretend
It's all alright again.

When you're not here, love, it's hard to pretend It's all alright, still
Why do I beg like a child for your candy?
Why do I run after you like I do? I love you.
Whatever you are I swear, you'll be my angel.
You.

Watch the day, count your cards.
It makes no sense that I'm always losing when you're gone.
Why do I beg like a child for your candy
Why do I come after you like I do? I love you.
Whatever you are I swear, you'll be my angel.
You.
When you're gone.

I love how some fans can say that Dave is a sellout without realizing how totally stupid they sound. Wow, Dave got popular! I can't like *him* anymore! Bad news, folks: Dave is writing the same great songs he's been writing for years. Yeah, the new album is a little more radio-friendly than a lot of his earlier stuff, but it's still a very solid album lyrically. Musically, while the rest of the band is kind of turned down, I think it's about time they made an album with a few more guitar-driven songs (of course, being a guitarist, I probably have a biased opinion on this matter, but I like hearing Dave playing). The bottom line is that just because a song is popular doesn't mean it's bad...I mean, look at the Beatles: screaming 13 year old girls at all of their concerts, and still they produced some of the most influential music of the century.

is dave a sellout?? only if you're talking about concerts! they sellout evertime if thats the case. dave is still the man. i agree, the electric guitar doesn't do it for me. but it's the lyrics that touch us and makes us wanna sing along. dave is probably one of the greatest song writer in history. so let all be DMB fans and go along w/ his message................it's all about the LOVE..

Sure, the new album's different from some of his old stuff, but that doesn't make it worse... Personally, I like it.

dave not a sellout riiight.. lets take under the table and dreaming and compare it to everyday.... on uttad you have your basic dmb songs nancies, jimi, warehouse and on everyday you have the super poppy tunes like i did it and the space between. now dont get me wrong i think that there are many well written songs on this album, but compared to old dave, new dave just dont do it for me anymore.

bymyself123, you are exactly that, by yourself on this one. dave is an amazing artist!! dave's loss of a fan like you isn't much of a loss, becuase you aren't really a fan anyway. just because he makes a new album with a different sound you don't like him? get real... by the way, angel is the best song on this album i think. it has an amazing sound and amazing lyrics.

Hey guys do you know why Everday sounds so much different from his older cd's? Cause 1) He wanted to make things differently and 2) Being a musician is a business, if you dont get more and more fans, you changed (tweak) your style of music. And as for dave, he isnt a sell out, hes just tryin to stay up in the business.. Just imagine how many new fans hes gotten since Everyday was released? But everyone knows that at his concerts, he'll play majority of his old cd's
