The Shame of Life Lyrics

I love the girls
and the money
and the shame of life
My shallow mind's
just a sign
of your game of life

There were girls in the front
and there were girls back
And there was girls pettin' squirrls
and there was squirrls smokin crack,
With an old navy seal and the DEA
and the loaded automatic just to blow me all away
With the dog drinkin' liquor from the hole in the sky
and the picture of the picture that pitches at a guy
he had a problem with his sister and the 3D cops
and a brother with a shovel just to shake it all up.

I love the girls
and the money
and the shame of life

Hop down to the people on the street
where the falls and the naval make the people wanna eat

My shallow mind's
just a sign
of your game of life
Get down to the level with the rest with the people on the street
put the metal to the test.

Locomotive in the pitcher without a knuckel in the fight
and I was hidin' in the bushes but I couldent stand the light
and he was highly indsputible the leader of the gang
like a bullet in the freezer... bang, bang..

Get down... get down... get-- get-- dow-- dow-- dow-- down

Invisibility is a relative thing

I was all shaken up have the rider shake it down
I was shakin in the air I was shakin on the ground
I was taken by the shaker who was preachin' to the crew
he was shakin' lotsa bacon cookin' egg in his shoe
noticed we were just a vision in a dream about a shoe
I was walkin through the store to find a needle for a soul
they had lost a little reason through a little tiny hole.

Wow it's really good that we can understand what the hell Gibby is saying on the later butthole surfers tracks.

I think this song is about how everything breaks down into chaos sooner or later. And we should all be cool about it because there isn't a damn thing we can do about it.

There's a lot of people out there that take life way too seriously, and I think this song is about just getting down with the fun stuff once in a while, like girls and drugs, and not worrying about being a shallow asshole sometimes.

The beat just rocks and the lyrics just let your mind wander around and makes you realize that you're not the only one thinking about strange and bizarre things.

It's like slipping deeper into a dream without worrying about being alone.

Yes dontpanic42, this song is exactly that. It is how everything breaks into choas sooner or later.

I think this is partly about Gibby's heroin addiction. Short anecdote, Gibby Haynes was in the same rehab centre as Kurt Cobain, where they discussed escape plans. The next day Cobain actually escaped and killed himself soon afterwards.

I really don't understand any of their songs, but I enjoy their music so...oh well!

Gibby was never into heroin. He did (and presumably still does) enough LSD on a daily basis to make the Merry Pranksters look like choirboys.
