Long Valley Road Lyrics
This time I'll go where she wants me to go
She said maybe today maybe tomorrow
Go deep in the woods down the low valley road
He took her all the way down the long valley road
They sent her away not too much later
And left him walking down the old valley road
Walk on, walk on alone
Walk on, walk on, walk on alone
Everybody noticed she was gone awhile
Somebody said she's gone to her sister's
But everybody knew what they were talking about
He showed her what they do down the long valley road
She came back around like nothing really happened
And left him standing on the old valley road
Walk on, walk on alone
Walk on, walk on, walk on alone
The rich old man would have never let him in
Good enough to hire not good enough to marry
When it all happens nobody wins
Walk on, walk on alone
Walk on, walk on, walk on alone

I just wonder if the way it goes start saying she will take him down the low valley road. Then it is he who shows her what they do down the old valley road. The she walks back like nothing happens and leaves him like a stone on old valley road. Seems creepier then just most say having a baby by an under hand and rich dad sends her away to give child up. I'm pretty sure the way Valley road is stated and later it's old valley road, not only that but leaving him like a stone to walk alone does in fact suggest death did take place and after they both come back from the other side, mother and child so now they are walking together at last, very suspicious!! Good enough to hire not good enough to marry suggests he got a prostitute and she became pregnant and he was a noble person and didn't want his family to find out so he had them killed. Also suggest possibly he was gay or transgender ppl should understand things of music and realize time is irrelevant and when artists come up with lyrics it comes from a source unknown to most that they alone are called to get these voices through and heard so time could've been many years ago or not have happened in this world at all and coming from future time from another dimension but that's allot and I don't wanna be called crazy!!
@Jacher201i forgot to mention where he is left like a stone on the old valley road also suggests STONE,(TOMBSTONE)

I think this song is about a guy who works on a plantation who impregnates the daughter of the plantation owner.
"Sometimes I lead sometimes I follow This time I'll go where she wants me to go She said maybe today maybe tomorrow Go deep in the woods down the low valley road"
I read this to mean the two spend time together and he/they want to "go deep in the woods" which is a metaphor for sex, then
"While no one was lookin' on the old plantation He took her all the way down the long valley road They sent her away not too much later And left him walking down the old valley road"
The went "all the way" and then she was sent away because she war pregnant.
"Somebody said she's gone to her sister's But everybody knew what they were talking about"
I believe in the old days unmarried pregnant girls would be sent to a convent to carry their baby to term so this could be the "sisters" in question, but everybody knows not her actual sisters.
"She came back around like nothing really happened"
Presumably she had the child and gave it up and comes back home and doesn't interact with the boy or tell him about the pregnancy.
"Standing like a stone on the old plantation The rich old man would have never let him in Good enough to hire not good enough to marry"
The girl returns and no longer associates with the boy, leaving him "standing like a stone." The rich old man (her father) would not let him in the family - he was good enough to hire as a worker but not good enough to marry his daughter.
