Cinnamon Girl (Neil Young cover) Lyrics
I wanna live with a cinnamon girl
I could be happy the rest of my life
With a cinnamon girl.
A dreamer of pictures I run in the night
You see us together, chasing the moonlight,
My cinnamon girl.
Ten silver saxes, a bass with a bow
The drummer relaxes and waits between shows
For his cinnamon girl.
A dreamer of pictures I run in the night
You see us together, chasing the moonlight,
My cinnamon girl.
Pa sent me money now
I'm gonna make it somehow
I need another chance
You see your baby loves to dance
Yeah...yeah...yeah.
I could be happy the rest of my life
With a cinnamon girl.
You see us together, chasing the moonlight,
My cinnamon girl.
The drummer relaxes and waits between shows
For his cinnamon girl.
You see us together, chasing the moonlight,
My cinnamon girl.
I'm gonna make it somehow
I need another chance
You see your baby loves to dance
Yeah...yeah...yeah.

This song wouldn't be half as good without Pete on the bass guitar and vocals, and ton is bad ass with covers, this is my favorite cover they do.
UMMMM .... NO. This is actually one of my favs by T.O.N.; its a remake of a neil young classic in case you didnt get the memo. But seriouslly its a pretty damn good one. The meaning is simple and to the point pretty much its about an artist/singer/rockstar who comes to his cinnimon girl after the tretous hours of touring and working your ass off. She dosnt like that the speaker is struglling but they stick it otut together. :) :)
The reference to a "cinnamon girl" can be thought of as either a spicy-sweet girl or a girl with a cinnamon complection. In either case, she's a refuge from the riggors of the nightly grind to make it big; a supporter of the artist's dream.
Oh, and as for the fact it's a remake...I MUCH prefer this version to the original. Niel Young sucks as a singer, he write's well though.
How can anybody say Neil Young sucks as a singer? This song is a great song, but I don't think it's as good as the orginal.
this is my favorite t.o.n. cover, and i remember watching something SOMEwhere that pertained to this song. i'm pretty sure neil young was tripping out on all sorts of acid when he wrote this. i don't believe he knows what it means either.
NEIL YOUNG -SUCKS- AS A SINGER! I hate his version. This one rocks.
For me "cinnamon girl" refers to brown heroin it s simply a metaphore maybe you think that i m wrong but it makes sense when you listen to the lyrics! It s such a great song Type o Negative rules
why do people always assume that a song is about drugs or sex? This song is about a woman who is very hot and spicy, possibly she's even brown skin colored, she could be hindui or half black-half white.
I love this song sooo much! It always makes me think of a dark complected brown haired girl... Like a latino girl or something.. Anything Neil can do Pete can do better. ^_-
There is a cogent effort on this string to interpret the song as a metaphor for heroin use. I must admit I wondered about the same possibility. But I believe the song is simply a beautiful imagistic musical tribute to a young lady that has either caught the author's fascination or is an idealized product of his imagination. The drug interpretation can be applied to many songs (as the Michelle Pfeiffer character does to Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man" in the film "Dangerous Minds." That interpretation is rather forced and falls way down the list of plausibility for that joyful anthem to imagination and freedom from stress and responsibility. So I'm with those who see "Cinnamon Girl" as a very well crafted bit of youthful romantic idealism.
