Then She Did... Lyrics

Now her paints are dry
And I looked outside
At the corner boys

Hey up
Where did you go?
I don't know...

I went to see your pictures
I spread them across the floor
So this is where they are shown
They're probably saying to you
If you keep it up you'll be born

But you won't ever listen
I'll bet

Burnt out(?), grass scorched by the sun
The buildings remain

We will beat them all to dust
I'll bet

Pulled from a headless shell
That blinked on and off "hotel"
Now the nameless dwell

They hold your key and turn your knob
I'll bet

Will you say hello to my ma?
Will you pay a visit to her?
She was an artist just as you were
I'd have introduced you to her
She would take me out on Sundays
We'd go laughing through the garbage
She repaired legs like a doctor
On the kitchen chairs we sat on

She was unhappy just as you were
unhappy just as you were
unhappy just as you were
unhappy just as you were...

Best Jane's song ever, bar none...about a girl who died, presumably (all that "say hello to my ma" stuff). I'm not sure about the burnt out bit...ain't worked that out yet. Submit your corrections...

It's not "Hey up".. it's "Hey yo"

Wonderfully moving tearjerking Jane's song about his mother dying and his reaction and feelings towards that. About her being depressed and unhappy causing her suicide.

This song is actually out of Perry's own mouth about his former lover Xiola Bleu. She overdosed on Herion. She was creative and exentric just like he was. It's just about his bottled up feelings towards her shocking death.

The song ties Xiola's death to Perry's mother's suicide. The "you" in this song is Xiola. The outro part is self-explanatory when you look at it that way. A very powerful song.

@suckmykiss This song makes me sad whenever I hear it. That said, it is outstanding and one of my favorites. Just don't think of the lyrics every time!

Burnt out grass, Scorched by the sun

this song is just incredible... Listening to this puts me back to a good place in my life.. when i first discovered janes addiction. Perry is truly one of the greatest artists of all time.... on every level. i love the fact that flee was able to join them in the 90's. He seems like he would fit in so well!

As everyone else has already pointed out, it is about Xiola Bleu who O.Ded on heroin and Perry's mom who killed herself when he was little. He felt that had they both lived, they would have been good friends, because they were both artists.

The original title of this song was "then she died", I think "then she did" is better.

yea "then she did..." sounds like its part of a conversation from perry, presumably to xiola bleu. the song is him talking to her about his mum again like he did when she was alive, and yea about how much they would have liked each other.

Like every else said about perrys mom and xiola...The guitar is just amazing along with the bass lines, the piano, and violin lines...It just comes together to make a perfect peice of art. This song is the most artful song of all time
