Punish My Heaven Lyrics
We are the outstretched fingers
That seize and hold the wind...
The strangeness of awakening
In an oh so silent world
Breathlessly waiting
For the first proud beams of light
As the hours grow longer
And the shadows never fall
My sky has forsaken me
My desperation grows
Bring me the light
In the darkness that never ends
The dawn will never come
Punish my heaven
We have arrived
At the outermost crossroads
The charge of cosmos
At our atmospheric skies
Will cause our fall
If I had wings, would I be forgiving?
If I had horns
Would there be flames to shy my smile?
Hymns of loss are heard
From the masses in the streets
Praising the last of days
I punish
Bring me the night
In the fires that never end
The dawn will never come
Punish my heaven
The charge of cosmos
Charging at us from unearthly distance
I challenge the universe
It's the choice between heaven and hell
My soul bears all the weight of mountains
As mankind weaves its silent end
Can there be no forgiveness?
I curse the heaven above me
As the light sinks through
My outstretched fingers
Fading in my open arms
Make each tear in my bare hands
A lifetime in hell
On this last day of light
When our autumn leaves fell
And as heaven itself commands me
Out of its lair
My face lined with darkness I'll go!
That seize and hold the wind...
In an oh so silent world
Breathlessly waiting
For the first proud beams of light
As the hours grow longer
And the shadows never fall
My sky has forsaken me
My desperation grows
In the darkness that never ends
The dawn will never come
Punish my heaven
At the outermost crossroads
The charge of cosmos
At our atmospheric skies
Will cause our fall
If I had horns
Would there be flames to shy my smile?
From the masses in the streets
Praising the last of days
I punish
In the fires that never end
The dawn will never come
Punish my heaven
Charging at us from unearthly distance
I challenge the universe
It's the choice between heaven and hell
As mankind weaves its silent end
Can there be no forgiveness?
I curse the heaven above me
As the light sinks through
My outstretched fingers
Fading in my open arms
A lifetime in hell
When our autumn leaves fell
And as heaven itself commands me
Out of its lair
My face lined with darkness I'll go!

I agree to an extent with Ddadutta. Although I feel it's less abou a person living a life of sin but more simply a normal life. On their death bed rather than repent for thing they may have done wrong, they decide instead to be judged, be them right or wrong.
I suppose therefore that these lyrics could lead into the notion that we are only human and can only try our best.
I think you guys are right about someone refusing to repent, but I dont think the person is on their deathbed, I think its during the apocalypse.
That would explain alot of the verses in between the chorus
for me this is the definitive dark t. song
this is one of their best songs ever. it also has that known-unspoken meaning you can feel/know.
i agree seraph.
I think its about a person living a life of sin, but on his last day, he refuses to do the "deathbed repentance", as a moral stand. he prefers to go to hell.
It's def the best DT song. I look forward to seeing them Thursday.
Yeah, this is absolutely DT's best song, and i agree with the people at the top, you guys drew a good picture of a person dying and refusing to repent.
hmm thanks to everyone..was hard for me to understand the meaning of the song, but the solos in it are quite amazing
I love the end : My face lined with darkness I'll go!
