Stars Lyrics

anyone who ever held you
would tell you the way i'm feeling
anyone who ever wanted you
would try to tell you what i feel inside
the only thing i ever wanted
was the feeling that you ain't faking
the only one you ever thought about
wait a minute can't you see that

i wanna fall from the stars
straight into your arms,
and i, i feel ya
i hope you comprehend

for the man who tried to hurt you
he's explaining the way i'm feeling
for all the jealousy i caused you
states the reason why i'm trying to hide
as for all the things you taught me
it sends my future into clearer dimensions
you'll never know how much you hurt me
stay a minute can't you see that

i wanna fall from the stars
straight into your arms
i, i feel ya
i hope you comprehend

too many hearts are broken
a lover's promise never came with a maybe
so many words are left unspoken
the silent voices are driving me crazy
after all the pain you caused me
making up could never be your intention
you'll never know how much you hurt me
stay can't you see that

i wanna fall from the stars
straight into your arms
i, i feel ya
i hope you comprehend

I think it's about the guy cheating on the girl he actually loves. And now he's trying to tell her how much she means to him. He's getting hurt by her because she's breaking up with him. The last verse says that she's probably been saying hurtful things to him and saying that 'maybe' they'll get back together to which he says 'A lover's promise never came with a maybe' and she isn't really ready to be with him anymore. He keeps asking her not to leave, to 'wait' and see how he feels about her and 'stay' and not leave him.. I love this song. My ex cheated on me and the way he'd beg me to take him back made this song come to mind everytime. Good thing that's over :p

Mick Hucknall takes a simple soul tune and makes it truly awe inspiring. Makes me wonder why he isn't as well known as Steve Perry from Journey. He is a legit "The Voice". He conveys the pain and loss left when the ride is over. You can literally feel the hole in his heart. Kudos.

She has cheated on him but he can't forget her because he needs her.

i think that this song is about a conversation between the two lovers speaking to eachother, perhaps for the last time. the first stanza is her speaking to him and then the last two are from him. he realizes he is losing her and finally wants her for good. she has finally given up though, yet tells him maybe...and, that "maybe" really hurts. i think through all the times she saw or knew he was with other women, would drive her crazy. she finally realized she is worth more and the maybe really cuts deep for him.

After watching the video to this song, which I do like the music, it is obviously a Satanic song. Watch the video then listen to the words. How can anybody not see this? I will never listen to the song again!

I don't think this is a clear cut song and I think embodies a relationship.

There is a lot of complex emotions in relationships. "The feeling that you ain't faking" can represent either insecurity or a feeling of being in love with someone who is disingenuous, which sits well with the "a lover's promise never came with a maybe". "After all the pain you caused me. Making up could never be your intention". There is a feeling of being disingenuous again.

He tried to make her feel jealous or lash out out of hurt, as almost a response to the feeling he felt inside. Then there is regret at making her feel jealous. Maybe as he tried to cling to the relationship and reflecting on whether he was at fault.

I've been there, to love, and to feel hurt, to cheat and emotionally distance yourself, to regret. To wish deep down to be loved but not feeling that. It captivates a very complex relationship and set of feelings.
