He's at the end of his rope, simple as that. He's gotten to the point where the only thing he can think about is heroin, and he doesn't have enough money for even a taste. His family has disowned him because of his addictions, and I think he is byond the point of carring. He's into deep to be sober long enough to realize what his life has come down too. |

When I read the lyrics my first assumption was that it was about drugs. I didnt' make the affair relationship until I read your replies. I think that this song is obviously from heroin's point of view. It's not he, uncle, who doesn't care about your clothes, or who you are married too, but heroin. Heroin can hook anyone, regardless of race, class, age, or marital status. The song is vicious from the way its put. "And you don't know why you can't turn around and say goodbye" that's because "you" are addicted. I don't know, maybe I just have a sick fasionation with drugs, but I'm seeing the connection plain as day. |

| Thursday – Understanding In A Car Crash Lyrics

"The Needle and The Damage Done" is actually a song by Neil Young. When I first heard that lyric in "UNderstanding A Car Crash" I thought that maybe the whole thing could be a major metaphor for a heroin OD, or maybe it just signified something that had to do with the crash. I beleive that perhaps, she was listening to the song at the time, so he put it in to put us into the scene of the crash all the more. Since there is no other reference to heroin in the song, I believe that he was bringing up the Neil Young song (which happens to be about heroin) into the song for more personal meaning. |

I don't think its about a heroin overdose. While its obvious that he knows an adict, he is still offering support. He says that "I will not move" meaning that he is going to try and help his friend no matter where his addiction takes him. He can see that Sunny has already changed, " I cry when I see where it's taken you" but just because Sunny is differnt from drugs dosen't mean that he ODed. Drugs change everyone. |

It does sound like it is about heroin, but it doesn't add up right. He says "Pupils Widen" and "Makes Your Eyes Dialate" heroin doesn't do that, your pupils constrict when you are on heroin, to the point of pin pricks. So that does leave me wondering... |

Wow, I'm surprised that no one has commented on this amazing song yet. I think this song is about ending a distructive relationship. Even though she asks to be used, you can tell she is sick of being walked all over by this mystery lover. This song, even though it is about having the courage to pick up and leave a bad relationship, even if it means loosing everything you have, is still really sad. The abuse in the relationship makes it so she doesn't trust anyone, and thinks that everyone will be the same as this guy. Poor poor girl (Or should I say Shirly?). |

I'm thinking about sending these lyrics to an ex of mine who doesn't get that I don't want to talk to him anymore. She comes right out and says that she doesn't like him anymore and doesn't want to pretend that she does, the same way that he pretends to be someone he's not. I love this song. |

THis song is getting though the hard times. The girl in this song is your average girl with a dark secret. The line "When it hurts he takes it out on you," suggests that her boyfriend, or her dad, or someone abuses her. This song is an anthem to anyone who is going though difficult times, wether it be abuse, depression, or what not, Shirley is telling those people to just keep breathing, to just hold on and wait a little longer, and things will get better. |

this song made me cry the first time I heard it. I don't know if it was from the lyrics, the music, or the combination. I think its sort of about cheeting. He still loves her, but he wants her to stop cheeting. There is this pain in his voice that I can hear, that is what makes this song so so real. |

I love this song so so so much. I love the touch the violins give the song. This song doesn't need anything more than the violins and the guitar, the lyrics stand so well on their own. I've listened to this song like 10 times today already! |

| Sublime – Boss DJ Lyrics

Your ex is wrong, what this song is about is heroin. Brad started taking the drug because he was having trouble getting inspired, and he heard musisians say that it helped them write songs. He's saying that while he's on dope he can write, he can sing, and he feels like he can do anything, even walk on water. A lot of the things he mentions in this song are about heroin. The most prominate line is, "A Funky not a junkie, but I know where to get it." I was just singing along today too "Robin the Hood," a CD by them I haven't heard in a while, and not since I became more awear of the terms and effects of heroin. When I heard that line, I started the song over again, suddenly the lyrics made more sence to me. Its not about a DJ, its about how he feels on heroin. He feels like he can do anything, because "its so nice." |

Before I knew the lyrics of this song it was always just a fun song for me, something to sing along to in the car. Then I heard the slang for injecting heroin (blast) in the lyrics, and I stopped to listen. This song is about the extreams someone will go to for heroin. People are after him, he's stuck looking and searching for heroin, and even sleeps with a girl for a blast. Thoughout the song, though, he is pleading with God for it to be differnt, that he doesn't need that hit, but at the same time he's to arogent to trust God to help him clean up. He's also scared of what may happen after he quits. "I would run, I would switch, but I wanna be the same." is talking about how he gets insperation for his lyrics from the drug. He's doesn't know how he will go on without that infuential power. The song, to me, is what one would write in a journal, or think outloud to themselves. This song will never be the same to me, now that I know the dark and horrible meaning to the lyrics. (I love you Brad and miss you deeply!) |

Wow I can't beleive anyone has said anything about this song! This is one of my favorite No Doubt songs! Well I think its a bit of an older song from the style, so I'm guessing its about Tony and was writen durring the last part of their relationship. SHe is sort of frustrated because she wants to get married and start a family and he doesn't want to. She thinks his trying to protect himself from something (her? The world?) and she wants him to get out of his bubble and be with her! |

This is the saddest Sublime song ever. Its so horrible how he explains the vilont conflict he had to go though. The want verses the consiquences (sp?) This song made me cry like the first 10 or 15 times I heard it, and still gives me chills. This song is a powerful message to everyone out there to NOT DO HEROIN! This song has such a powerful influence on me that I actually wrote a story dedicated to Brad, and set to the tune (not litterally) of this song. To PTW coverage: for your information it is Nowell and I also don't apriciate you tainting this place with your garbage. Bradley Nowell's was arguably the best musicion of our times. I know that many people out there cry every May 25th because of the tragic end his life brought. You dont' just say that you are glad that a father and a person who has changed so many lives for the better is dead. His death was a horrible tragidy to the entire community, one that we will never beable to fully recover from. The fact that this musical genious will never write another song fills me with a deep sence of sadness, which is amplified by the fact that he tried his hardest not to take that hit that morning. Do not say something so horrible about someone so great. What would Troy have to say to someone about you? (note: Troy is Brad's widdow) |

I know that this song was named for the drag queens in NYC. Is it saying that the end of the world will be homophobia? Is that what we must get over? They don't think that we will ever except this though. Frankly I don't agree with them-- there's a lot more stuff that will end the world before a lack of tollerence. If anything sometimes we are too tollerant if you ask me. |

This song is simply amazing-- they discribe the sunrise so well, like all of those people who stay up all night and watch it with almost this sadness. I think the use of the sunrise is a metaphore for breaking the circle of depression and/or laziness. He is saying how this is where the circle ends, and it's time to get on with life. |

Woah this song is amazing. I'm so glad I finally got to read the lyrics. It's amazing the pictures they have painted with their words. You have to wonder what the car crash is a metaphor for. He mentions needles and flowing though our veins. Could the daily car crash be drugs? |
