The Prodigy – Smack My Bitch Up Lyrics | 9 years ago |
No idea what I was thinking back when I made this comment, I was completely wrong. At least on the sampling part anyway, no idea on the first part. |

Clawfinger – Two Sides Lyrics | 10 years ago |
A bit late here, but thanks noober! I've added them to the lyrics above :) |
Emiliana Torrini – Birds Lyrics | 11 years ago |
The long gap between the 2nd and 3rd verse is awesome, and then as it gradually builds up I find that I can't wait for it to arrive, with each extended line of the song taking ages. Eventually it arrives with so much volume it sends a shiver down my spine! Best. Feeling. Ever. |
DJ Shadow – Backstage Girl Lyrics | 14 years ago |
As amusing as "I responded with a Smurf" was, and "I could tell what the foetal position was", these lyrics were just too messed up to leave untouched. Good song :) |
Robots in Disguise – 50 Minutes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think saying 52 Weeks instead of a year emphasises that it feels like they didn't "make it" to 5 years. So, it's all "4 years and 49 weeks!", "50 weeks!", "51 weeks!" and then they break up just 50 minutes after their 5 year anniversary, so it's 50 minutes, 52 weeks and 4 years. |
Paul Mounsey – Gad Ionndrainn (From E To F) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
My heart is heavy, My hair is turning grey, I am broken, lonely and sad, For the mother of my children, The woman I loved, my wife, Lies buried in the graveyard at Eye. No-one could ever understand, The extent of my grief and pain, My children have been left motherless, No morning or night passes, Without my lamenting her: Without embarrassment, I have shed tears for her I am certain, my love, That you are in Paradise above: All you suffered is now behind you, Until I close my eyes, In eternal slumber, I will miss you, and praise you. With thanks to nahoo.org.uk! |

Thanks for that Tiggy', I couldn't work that bit out at all! ^_^ |
DJ Shadow – Stem/Long Stem Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Wikipedia says it comes from an album by '60s comedian Murray Roman. The spoken track "Freedom" is the last track on side one of his LP "Busted" from 1972. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endtroducing.....#Samples |
Fear Factory – Ascension Lyrics | 16 years ago |
dude that posted the original lyrics wasn't on crack... perhaps very sleepy, instead :P Updated to reflect Solitude's input |
Death in Vegas – Soul Auctioneer Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I posted these lyrics way over a year ago, but I've only recently properly /listened/ to the song, taking in the lyrics... I originally thought it would be about drugs (The chorus especially strikes me as some of the hallucination type effects of LSD) However, these lines: A dead head, a blunt needle You've broken your wings You've lost your demon make me think of not /having/ drugs (When you need them)... blunt needle so you can't insert the drugs broken wings, can't get high. lost your demon - in the 'drugs are my demon' sense. (Also, I love "The narcotic preachers are happy" line ;)) |
Masterplan – Phoenix Rising Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I assume this has been named 'phoenix rising' to denote the 'new' masterplan rising from the ashes of the old, after Jørn Lande left because of 'creative differences'. |
Feersum Ennjin – Solid Gold Lyrics | 17 years ago |
What a fuckin' awesome song - clearly the best on the EP :D |
Casiotone for the Painfully Alone – I Love Creedence Lyrics | 17 years ago |
tell-me-what: 2 of his/her comments ago, shotgunn said: "Also, I think it's dangerous to start talking in terms of "this is what the artist meant". Surely the name of this site, "Songmeanings", implies some sort of personal interpretation. The song can mean different things to different people." Please don't start a 'flamewar' over something so little - the site is already bad enough :) |
DJ Shadow – In/Flux Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Aye, I wasn't sure about that one - changed it to appears. |
System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics | 18 years ago |
As you put it on the Tim McGraw page: "I will spam chop suey with interpretation after interpretation." Interpretations or not, spam is spam. Naturally, I respect the fact that you have submitted a bunch of lyrics, and I don't mind that you're having discussions and such, but they should be moved to the forums, as I have said before. The whole point is, when someone comes to the Chop Suey page (for example.), they want to see what people think the song means, not pages and pages of discussions, however intellectual or semi-relevant they may be. |
System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Behave, or I will ban you again. You too, Outgunned. |
Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't remember. I might've |
Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I'm not middle aged, but yes. The comments you posted were relevant to the song, but they weren't comments that tried to define what you thought the song is about. They were comments related to the song's content which I felt should have been in the forums instead. Rather than cluttering up these pages :) Also, I shall be deleting these comments too in a minute, to avoid being hypocritical... I really wish the PM system was back up and running :P |
Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Real effort? - it took me over 6 hours. |
Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I sometimes find myself periodically checking this last page for fresh meat to ban. (And then get caught up in deleting comments.) I'm going to be doing a cleanout of this page soon anyway, so about 98% of these posts will have loooong gone. |
DJ Shadow – Mutual Slump Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oops, lord knows why I haven't commented on my favourite song /ever/. No other song can compete with this one, ever. (Apart from Blood on the Motorway, maybe, but that doesn't give me the same euphoric feeling that this does). |
Fear Factory – Ascension Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I probably got the lyrics wrong here, but I don't care - it's an instrumental track technically I guess. Beautiful /Beautiful/ track. Probably one of my favourite ambient tracks I've got, which is surprising considering it's a Fear Factory song. It looks so out of place in my ambient playlist. Anyway. Whenever I close my eyes and listen to this song, I always imagine a huge docking area in space. Each sound representing different ships coming and going, and the thuds and clunks and stuff being industrial type work going on... I just wish it was longer than 7 minutes. |
Green Day – Longview Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Test. |
Green Day – Longview Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It used to be a common joke when I was younger. (Basic principle being that you end up shooting your eyes out) |
Robots in Disguise – Turn It Up Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Curl and Grazes are both songs by the Sneaker Pimps (Chris Corner's band) - relation there probably? :) |
American Head Charge – Americunt Evolving Into Useless Psychic Garbage Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I was never really into this song. I could happily listen to every song on the whole album but skip this one when it came on. When "The Feeding" came out, it seemed to take this style more than the others, and through listening to that album made me appreciate this song more. Now I can happily listen to the whole album, heh. |
Anathema – Hope Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Mine too! I totally forgot about it and "Flying" became a temporary favourite, but then I remembered after a few months of not listening to it. Anyway, it seems to me as though he's looking into his future and referring to it as "she"? - I don't know Neat song though Edited by random_monkey on March 24 2006, at 12:57PM |
The Decemberists – Human Behaviour (Björk cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Can't you grab 'em from the björk lyrics dude? |
DJ Shadow – GDMFSOB (UNKLE Uncensored) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I know these lyrics are hella wrong, but it was really hard to work out. I figured this'd be better than nothing. If you have any suggestions for corrections then post them up and I will edit accordingly :) |
Super Furry Animals – Calimero Lyrics | 18 years ago |
English translation: Calimero, you're wearing an egg on your head Calimero, is there reason in a piece of wood? What came first, the egg or the red rooster? Calimero, you have a beak but no respect Calimero Calimero, you're wearing an egg on your head Calimero, is there reason in a piece of wood? What came first, the egg or the red rooster? Calimero, you have a beak but no respect Calimero Calimero, Calimero, Calimero, there's no alive taste Calimero, Calimero, Calimero, there's no, there's no I'm really sad... |
Eminem – Just Lose It Lyrics | 18 years ago |
He wasn't proven innocent, he was found not guilty - there is a difference. Also, I imagine peewee is in the song because he was found to be a paedophile too. |
Death in Vegas – GBH Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Sorry about the awful gaps in this. It's so hard trying to work out what he's saying, and there is /nothing/ out there to help. So if you have any suggestions or corrections, please shout up :) |
Death in Vegas – Aisha Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Could this perhaps be about "The holy prophet Mohammad" and his child-wife, Aisha? |
Emiliana Torrini – Dead Things Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Hell no, it really is a great song. The Chasm Mix especially so... The lyrics are somewhat peculiar, though |
IAMX – Heatwave Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"And picture myself as a missionary soldier" -- I love that line. Menstruation's post seems to be more plausible, but I would argue that it was a real woman, and "illusion" signifies that the heatwave is making her appear more attractive than she already is... Accentuating her beauty, if you will Edited by random_monkey on February 2 2006, at 05:46PM |
Bouncing Souls – Anchors Aweigh Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Aweigh. The moment a ship's anchor leaves the sea bottom, the anchor is said to be aweigh. "Weigh" from the Old English infers movement." So I guess the Anchor is under movement. taken from: http://www.bluejacket.com/sea-service_tradition.htm |
30 Seconds to Mars – From Yesterday Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Actually, scratch that - I found 'em on the 30STM site (in the forums) |
30 Seconds to Mars – From Yesterday Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Ok, I've put them new lyrics up with "write" instead of read... Overall, that's far closer than it was before Cheers guys :) |
30 Seconds to Mars – Buddha For Mary Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Do you suppose there is some relationship between "Mars" and "Mary"? |
Eminem – My Name Is Lyrics | 18 years ago |
dama9ed: Interesting. Granted, it's not perfect but it's pretty damn close. - The question is, was it intentional or did I just turn out like that? :) |
My Chemical Romance – Song 2 (Blur cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
FackingHell: It's a cover of a Blur song, so I guess they had no choice. |
Lacrimosa – Copycat Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The live version is far better though - Anne's vocals are so much cooler on it |
Imogen Heap – Can't Take It In Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Agreed, one of my favourites of hers |
Sneaker Pimps – Tesko Suicide Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Liam suggested that suicide kits might as well be available in supermarkets." - I imagine that's where the name came from, (Tesco's being a supermarket here in England - they probably chose to use "Tesko" instead to avoid legal issues) |
System of a Down – Vicinity of Obscenity Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's like they decided to do their own version of Badger badger, only better |
30 Seconds to Mars – From Yesterday Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Ok, so perhaps: "On a mountain, a city, not of gold, but of silver" instead? I've been trying to work this one out for about 2 months now and that damn verse was giving me hell... Oh, and I'd got this bit: "Fighting off the world all around he can pay attention" To be: "Fighting off the world, all around he can message you" (Only most of the time it drops the "you") |
Hooverphonic – Magenta Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Just before the "And turn the world magenta" line he says something along the lines of "Red room" Anyone know what he's saying there? Also, AlairaKasimer - please stop copy/pasting the same comment onto every damn hooverphonic song... it's getting annoying ;) |
Fear Factory – Echo of my Scream Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Easily my favourite song off their new album... One of my favourites from them overall, actually. Not too sure on the lyrics meanings - it's almost as if it's taken from the suicide perspective... |
