bopton, you totally missed the point of the song... its about not caring about "the fucking poser punks" i saw ataris on saturday & like kris roe said, "being punk isn't about following people like a flock of sheep, its about listening to what you like and being who you are regardless of what people think" Those "fucking poser punks" may not necessarily fit your idea of a punk, but if they like the music, who gives a shit? ... i do agree bout the people that are screaming 'sell out' @ the ataris.... regarless of how they're music has EVOLVED - not changed... evolved - they' still amazing! this song is so badass... i love it |

(cept perhaps comfortable, but that's an obvious classic) anyways, here's my little story to make you all jealous: i saw him play in dallas last year & in between songs i screamed "play sucker!!" & after a few songs he came out on stage alone & he started pickin around w/ some stevie ray vaughn stuff & then he went into sucker & afterwards he was like "i don't play that song much, but someone asked so there ya go" .... ahhh alrite, now that you're all jealous.. i'm out |

I love SoCo... they're awesome. I think the whole "punk rock princess / garage band king" is kind of making fun of people that wear those stupid shirts. But its like "i love you & if that's what you're into, then i'll do it" Its a sweet song. Their whole new cd is badass.

another thing: mourninghasbroken : you can go fuck YOURself. Yes, you have your points & some of them are good & true & that's all well & good, but shut up. no one gives a crap about how many times you can use the F word in a paragraph. Like what you like, but don't diss what other people are into. My god. What this song, band, whatever says in the music might not mean anything to you, but it is meaningful to other people so lay off. Dashboard is an amazing band, but i'll be the 1st to tell you that they're not as good as they used to be, but that doesn't mean that they work any less in writing songs than a band like FUGAZI does. Every band has its thing & a genre of music doesn't mean that every band catagorized in that genre has to sound the same. So wake up to more music & stop closing yourself into what YOU think is acceptable. explore other bands & other stuff & don't be afraid of something just cuz its POPular! k, that's it. i'm out. |

sic_n_twisted: its kool for a band to get famous & stuff, but its when they change their music just so they'll be more popular that makes em sell outs. It sux when a band becomes more worried about popularity than their music. & that seems to be what happened w/ Unwritten Law, cuz their old stuff is much different & MUCH better than stuff like this. i do agree bout the sad depressing emo music though!! please, god, help bands write some fun, good time stuff - not stuff that makes ya wanna jump off a cliff. I know we all go through those times, but it seems like that's all people think we can relate to. alright, this song isn't that good. If you are a true fan of Unwritten Law & not just of this song that you heard on the radio then check out their old CD's like Oz Factor & songs like "Suzanne", "Cailin", "Shallow", & "Before I Go" - that's good, true Unwritte Law. ok, that's it. i'm out. |

The line is "i need you. Close please stay tonight" he's telling his daughter that he needs her in his life. However, i do agree that what makes this song wonderful is that it can be applied to different relationships than just father/daughter. This song is beautiful!!! i love it & it just tells how much love can do for a person & the profound effect it has on life.
and anyone that thought this song was about a pedophile has a sick mind & needs to think about things before they jump to stupid conclusions like that. that's all i'm out. |

wow! i hope you guys know this band!! The Rocket Summer is amazing! Bryce Avery is an awesome musician & he's from my hometown!! I love seeing him live. He plays every instrument & writes all the lyrics, if ya didn't know! you all need to go out & find this cd, all the songs are wonderful!
This song is about a guy trying to get over a break up & convince himself that he's ok, when really he still loves the girl & wants her. He trys to convince himself that he doesn't need her, but deep down he knows that if she came back he'd want her again. hence "Stay Away" |

This is one of Blink's better new songs. Their old stuff is so much better though.... but its good to see that they can still write songs that mean something (ex: Stay Together 4 the kids) not just stupid hooks with good beats. don't get me wrong, i luv them - i think they're badass & am a loyal fan, but even i have to say old school blink is better.
To those of you sayin the poser stuff: Blink was at one time a punk band that led the way for other bands like Fenix TX, NFG, JEW... the list goes on & on. What's wrong with changing up their style a little bit, even if its not for the better? Every band should be allowed to experiment with sounds & styles until they've found somethin they like. Look at the Beatles, they changed up their sound so many different times, but that's what they're legendary for.

Amen to emmychloe!! While I know this song is about not worrying what people say or think, it think its also about not worrying about what catagory you fit into, "confomist," "rebel", etc. Its about finding what makes you happy and not worrying about the little things. "they read all the books but they can't find the answers" Do what you feel gives you the answers, and don't be afraid to live life the way you want to live it., and no other way.
Those of you saying things like "i hope the preps don't start singing this song" - YOU ARE MISSING THE WHOLE POINT! the idea is to not waste beautiful works of art like this on people like yourselves that catagorize things. you're so worried about being non-conformists that you don't realize that you're too worried about what your fellow "underground" people think of you. John Mayer is one of the greatest musicians I've ever heard and his music should be played all over the radio and TV so that everyone can learn from his genius.
