ATWA gefinitely stands for Air Trees Water Animals. it is based on the interest that one of the members of the band ( i cant remember which one) has with charlie. In no way do SOAD mean to defend his {alleged} actions, they're just trying to express that there's more than one side to the guy, he's not just some maniac who goes "if i was going to kill someone i'd kill everyone"*.

If you pay attension, you'll notice that most religions, even the ones that want to kill each other, are basically identical. they may have a different name for god, they'll have couple of unique practices, but the basic beliefs and philosophies are almost identical.
