its about autoerotic asphyxiation
a bird stealing bread in some circles is another term for jerkin it while having a dude choke you with some fabric from behind while putting his hot tamae in yr colon |

i figured it was more of like, you meet a girl at party, you really hit it off, but in the end you never have any way of contacting her. its like a love at first and last sight type of thing. she was perfect for that moment, and since you have no way of ever seeing or hearing from her again - she remains perfect in memory |

| The Cars – Good Times Roll Lyrics

thunder phrase - probably sex appeal (crotch lightning?)
too repetitive, i guess if you're not into rocknroll then yea. pretty much every phrase has a new synth riff or hook, not to mention different guitar counter-rhythms and melodies.
To be honest, I thought this song was a little more sarcastic and ironic. the way he sings very monotonous and down i figured it was more of like, "oh boy... the good times... yea great" very insincere |

the parts where the song breaks, and you can hear the Beetjuice-esque 'la-la-la' going on in the background is so fucking creepy and awesome. Where she says "you drive me crazy, you smell so sick" that stanza is nuts.... mwa hahahahaahahahahaahah Daydream Nation is such a fucking amaaaazzzinnnngggggg CD - anyone who is a fan of rock and roll, and any type of experimentalism (anyone who likes any type of music really) must buy Daydream Nation. Then buy Sonic Nurse, they song so trippy on their newer stuff |

I'm sorry malachi but you have no idea what you're talking about. This is about nationalism, Stereolab are deeply socialist... they sing in French, they're very very liberal. This song shows just how irreverent "national lines" are. They say that we are human that should be enough for us to get along. The idea taht we can't work together but rather "stimagatize" our national identities and try to coerce our nation's citizens into thinking that those not of our country are different, wrong, and opposites. Then we fight over the land, the goods, the wealth. When they say justification they mean that our countries' leaders justify any type of imperial duties for the benefit of our nation. I'm a pretty conservative guy, but the pure simplicity of this song really do make me think... |

amazing song, yo la tengo sure can write a beautiful love song. whats even more amazing about their music is that sometimes a guy writes them so you get that angle, while some songs are written from a woman's standpoint. They juxtapose one another to really show that both genders feel angst towards the opposite. Really wonderful |

i think this song is about having very distinct and personal opinions. while they might not be accepted or even "right" per se, they are indeed his views and fuck anyone who tries to tell him he can't have them. anyone who doesn't assert their right to freedom of thought shouldn't be doing anything (put your hands behind your back) |

| Built to Spill – Carry the Zero Lyrics

no offense to the emo crowd... but that emo/pop-punk stuff usually deals with a relationship. this is more indie rock - and these guys are more cerebral than to be talking on and on about broken relationships. save that for bright eyes and other shitty bands. oh yea and of course the zero is the narrator or someone really close. because the first line he says im nnot knocking your want to "carry" that home. and then he says about infers that he is indeed the zero. i think its about losing faith in yourself, and the others around you. he constantly refers to "carrying" something. its most likely the weight of self-awareness, consciousness. because at the end he pretty much is speaking to himself. saying that he's become a lot more watered down as a result of carrying whatever it is hes carrying |

postal service is emo/glitch techno
If you want the music, minus the annoying Ben Gibbard go for DNTEL
He does play on one song "(This is the Dream) of Evan and Chan" it's a really good song - pretty upbeat and danceable. Other than that TPS can rot in hell. |

incorrect, without Sonic Youth there would be no Nirvana, and pavement is a completely different ballgame. We're talking about how Nirvana opened up punk for the mainstream, and at the same time Pavement pushed indie music even further underground. Modest Mouse is awesome, they're a jammier version of the Pixies. The Pixes are needless to say way more advanced than Modest Mouse |

the entire album is conceptual, its about the live and times of Julio, only its about him being in a coma and all of the insane dreams and fantasy adventures he embarked on... thats why a lot of it doesn't make sense. they're trying to give you an idea of a complete dream world where their best friend played the lead role. |

emo kids piss the hell out of me... every song MUST be about a girl and how things went wrong. The whole idea of the bow, arrow, and apple is all about trust, from that old aesop fable. no way, he's pessimistic about it?
i couldn't tell from the lines
"The of all mankind I see, is in the hands of fools"
i thought that was positive?!
either way, he's just talking about the attitude of people and how they forget how to actually live, instead of scrounging around for popularity and riches. Its talking about people don't actually *live*. |

this might help you, as far as lazarus goes
in the New Testament. (1) Brother of Mary and Martha of Bethany who, after four days in the tomb, was brought back to life by Jesus. (2) Beggar in the parable who lay suffering and neglected at the rich man's gate. After death the rich man, parching in hell, pleads in vain that Lazarus, now happy in heaven, be permitted to give him a cooling drink.
i think it has something to do with hypocrisy |

another philisophical theory. this starts off i believe, with the idea of birth being a traumatic experience. it then talks about the cynicism involved with being human. to question ourselves is what makes us human. we are constantly trying to achieve a form of greatness. If you can actually deteoriate your ego, you may able to evolve to a better form of human. |

| Tool – Parabola Lyrics

this entire album revolves around the band's deep philiosophical views on life. this is basically talking about our human entity revolves around our consciousness. in other words we project our senses. the only thing separating us from a god-like status is the handicap of our body. if it wasn't for our body we would ascend to a greater consciousness. this is also talking about being humble as a result of this. he can't forget that he is a mere human and not a god... yet |
