I think it's a lullaby to Trey's kid.

Phish – Ghost Lyrics 23 years ago
Supposedly Tom Marshall had a Ghost for a friend as a kid. Hence, the song.

Phish – When The Circus Comes Lyrics 23 years ago
This is not a Phish song; this is a Los Lobos song that Phish covers occassionally.

Phish – Sample In A Jar Lyrics 23 years ago
Gives me the impression of a handicapped person going home from a party slightly drunk and alone.

Phish – Wading In The Velvet Sea Lyrics 23 years ago
(I don't remember where I heard this.) Trey and a friend stole a human heart from the lab in college and mailed it to another guy as a joke. Velvet Sea is about that.

Phish – You Enjoy Myself Lyrics 23 years ago
Scheise is right. And the title is what some Italian guy said to Trey when he was touring Europe in college. The Italian guy was complimenting Trey's playing.

Phish – The Mango Song Lyrics 23 years ago
From the liner notes and/or the Phish Book (I can't remember exactly): Mango Song was about a Vietnam veteran whose limbs were blown off in the war. The line was supposed to be "Your hands and feet are mangled," but Trey or Tom kept screwing it up. Turned into the version that's out there today.

Phish – Piper Lyrics 23 years ago
Heard this was something Tom Marshall woke up from a dream and wrote down while he was half-asleep.

Phish – Lifeboy Lyrics 23 years ago
Like Bug, another vaguely anti-religion tune by Marshall.

Phish – Fee Lyrics 23 years ago
I always considered it to be the opposite of The Beatles' Rocky Raccoon. (Fee = Dan; Floyd = Rocky; Millie = Magil / Lil / Nancy)
